Also, the Homecoming TV movie is owned by CBS while the Waltons series is owned by Warner Bros. (who acquired it in the Lorimar library).

And proceeded to indulge in their Stalinist logo-plastering or just plain lopping off. (Since The Waltons was the first Lorimar production - Lorimar didn't exist when the TV movie was made - this is doubly annoying.)

I'm REALLY looking forward to Rascals and Robbers! Goldsmith and Horner on one CD. It's the closest I'll get to seeing my fantasy album from age 10 of music by Williams, Goldsmith and Horner. LOL

We know what your Amazing Stories album would have been like ("The Mission," "Ghost Train," "Alamo Jobe" and "Boo")!

Which is probably why we ended up with a mock-up version on those old TELEVISION'S GREATEST HITS records.

But it's a terrific, authentic sounding performance, so the question is moot.

I'm really excited about the Goldsmith/Horner combo smile
I've never heard THE HOMECOMING, so new Americana Goldsmith has got me jazzed.
I've seen RASCALS AND ROBBERS and even have about 15 minutes on an old 'session' tape from the long ago.
I can say that if you loved Horner in the early days, when everything sounded fresh, exciting and full of fast-paced energy, you will love it. It will remind you of things like ALAMO JOBE and STAR TREK II.
I canna wait!!

Question at Lucas:

The Homecoming/Rascals and Robbers - Goldsmith + Horner will be on 1 CD?

That would be awesome!!! smile

You don't need Lukas to reply. It's all on one CD.

I can finally retire my home made ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS CDR with all of Mona's squeaking.
Ohma-Tiglan, Lukas

BTW-how did you find the tapes for it? I had read they were lost/misplaced. It would be interesting to hear how you found it.

Don't believe everything you read. The Robinson Crusoe on Mars music scoring masters were at Paramount - the 35mm stereo mag masters were transferred some time ago for a 2" preservation project. But this is not the kind of thing that would have been made available to the DVD producers.

Lukas

I think it was MMM who said he found a box at Paramount once (while doing a search) that said RCOM on it but when it was opened it was a different movie score (in the wrong box)

Great announcements, especially Homecoming.

I'm sure Jerry would be thrilled to share digital space with Horner.

Famed electronics guy Jack Cookerly worked on ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS (the eerie organ work I imagine). I believe I had heard Fred Steiner was involved in some way but someone else may know the straight dope about it.

Fred Steiner orchestrated around half of Robinson Crusoe on Mars (Van Cleave did the other half), but did not write anything.

Definitely buying everything mentioned. Lukas, how many units will The Homecoming be? Enough to go around, I hope?

Basically behaving as if Lorimar didn't exist (a disturbing amount of Lorimar-produced product has been screening in recent years with the Lorimar logo gone).

I don't mean to be snotty (honest!), but Joseph Stalin was a brutal dictator responsible for the deaths of tens of millions. Warner Bros. has replaced a logo on a television series, quite possibly on the advice of their legal counsel. I'm not saying you can't regret the loss of the logo you remember, but "Stalinist" just seems a teensy bit out of scale to me.

Again, though, I truly don't mean to be snotty about it.

LOL! I thought exactly the same thing.
I can just hear him now, in that irritable raspy voice..."I ain't sharing no CD with that note stealing, sheet stealing, daughter stealing S.O.B!!!"
I expect it will thunder tonight wink
