Thanks for the heads-up, Mastadge - Really glad to hear Morricone's score quoted in that opening track, and from the sound of the other clips, I'm going to love this. Glad I pre-ordered already!
The samples actually sound... really good! No droning. Fine instrumentation. Subtle strings. This and "DREAM HOUSE" could actually make me feel as if good scores are asked for again.

Ain't heard Don't Be Afraid of the Dark or Straw Dogs I take it?

No, but I will - thanks for the info!
Awesome, I hope you enjoy them. They really do stand out these days, and I wish more around here would give them a spin.
Has anyone got this off of iTunes yet? I would but I spent my budget this week on Straw Dogs so I might have to wait until some time in October to run across it.
Yes, I first listened to it awhile back. Have posted various comments on the score throughout this thread, just scroll up and look for Jason!
The score is incredible, and the orchestra truly earned every penny and surely enjoyed a surge of creativity in playing due to Beltrami's marvellously original instrumentation.
Wow, I've only listened to samples, but this is even better than I'd imagined, fantastic, memorable stuff, sounds like it's full of the usual inventive Beltrami magic! Can't wait to download it as soon as I'm home from work.

Ahh! Found it...
Hardly any stingers, this is good old fashioned big-time monster music.
Wait until you hear "Meating of the Minds"...will blow you away, showcasing the monster theme in full force.
The last two cues are unbelievably powerful and epic. Not surprising coming from Beltrami.
This sounds promising -- Beltrami always delivers some amazing finale cues. I'm looking forward to hearing this.
Of note for WillGoldNewtonBarryGrusin, you should try and seek out Christopher Young's Priest score from earlier this year. It is another grand film score which forgoes most of the tendencies that irritate some fans around the board. It's still my favorite score from this year.

Priest is a terrific score - really surprised me and reminded me of the great days of Young's scores for Hellraiser I and II, Species, Def Con 4 and the like (though more bombastic than some of those)!
Listening to this now, and track 5 - Meet and Greet is a terrific, typical Beltrami horror track that relies more on the power and intensity of the orchestra rather than cheap scares.
Why does iTunes feature the cues in a different order than the Varese tracklist?
It doesn't, really. I wondered about that too, but while they're displayed differently in the iTunes catalogue, when you download it they're sequenced as they are on the Varese site.
