Maybe they could throw in one of them little rings that make a "WHIZZZZZZZZZ" sound when you blow into it. That would be cool! Oh yeah, that will make me do backflips!!!!

Yeah, it's the "Music"....partially but it's about money, Money they get from us. Without money from us, they have no business. Anybody see a housing bubble parallel in any of this? Well.....when we are talking about CD companies....well, the clue is in the word "Companies"....they are businesses...so of course it's about the damn money! Pretty sure they aren't doing it solely for the love - if they were, they's be giving the things away... Yes and "Companies" can and have been know to fleece people too with bad marketing and other dubious practices.

Sketchkid, A word of advice from someone probably much older: If you REALLY want something, figure out how much you think it's worth. NOT how much it costs right now, or how much someone is asking, but what, to you, it's worth. Then, do one of two things: But it at that price and be happy even if it comes out in an unlimited amount the following day, for free--you paid what YOU thought was a fair price for the value of this object you wanted. Ahh, but you see part of my reasoning was the estimated number of years before a potential re-release would happen. I do agree with the "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it" sentiment. But just as Explorers was uncharted territory (an immediate re-pressing) so is this (hasn't it been a yr or so out?). As far as Intrada's concerned there are no rules any more... some of that's helpful, some of it isn't. I can afford to buy both, it's just an irritant. For the most part I have lucked out in terms of my re-entering the soundtrack game the last few years. It would be frustrating to see my whole collection consistently being upgraded. It's just starting to happen for me recently (planet of the apes, speed, etc).

That does not denigrate the reissue, it's my acknowledgement that what I have is sufficient. Kritzerland's reissue of MULHOLLAND FALLS is a prime example.

How many damn Krull reissues does there need to be? and Predator for that matter. And when does it end?

Steve's right. It ends when you get over yourself and what you think the labels owe you, and start buying for the pleasure of owning something for the purpose of enjoyment now.

And who would have thought things would be the way they are now 20 years ago when you bought the first issue. No one. The whole thing now feeds on itself.

Sketchkid, I think it must just be something that comes with age and limited entertainment dollars. For example, I'd like to have the PLANET OF THE APES thing, but I know I'd rarely listen to it. I also know I haven't played the one-disc so frequently that I know every note, so that tells me something. One of my alltime favorite scores is CAPRICORN ONE--the original score, not the re-recording. (I even wrote an article about the differences in FSM ages ago.) I've had multiple opportunities to buy it at high but not astronomical costs. I've weighed the other things I would like to own for fun and things I NEED to do with that money. It's hard, and it's not always fun, but that's the kind of decision you make that actually makes you an adult. If your spending is out of control, or you're vexed by obsessive thoughts, you need to seek help. It's not Intrada's or mine or anyone else's affair. The world doesn't have to organize itself for your condition (by 'you' I don't mean you, I mean the hypothetical 'you'). Don't buy something you really,REALLY want and see what happens. That, too, is a mature way to go. And maturity doesn't just arrive--you build it.

As far as Intrada's concerned there are no rules any more... I'd say it's more about them inventing new "rules" as often as it suits them. Those who control the game makes the rules and we have no say, except HOW much does it cost?

As customers, you have the ultimate power. Don't like what they are doing? Don't buy it. It's really that simple.
