Just dawned on me this is the "album" presentation. Does this mean the recording sessions are not available? Anything substantial missing? Not a complaint, just curious. The album presentation is fantastic. From Intrada's King Kong Lives page: Happily, UMG vault masters of original U.S. album were available in perfect condition... That means that the source for this CD is from the album master and not from the session tapes. That belongs to DEG-DeLaurentiis Entertainment Group. The film production was independently produced by DEG and, from what I hear, getting anything from them is a challenge. That is why the recent CD re-issue from Varese of another DEG film, Tai-Pan, is the album representation. Although King Kong (1976) was a DeLaurentiis production, that movie was financed by Paramount Pictures. They own the rights to that film, so, the sound elements of the score's recording sessions where kept by that studio.

If you do not have this one yet, you need to check out the sound bites. This is a fantastic score. I think if I play it a few more times, I will need to purchase another one in fear of wearing this one out! Too bad the movie did not match the score in quality.

This is one of my favorite purchases in the past few months. Such a strong, surprising score! I agree. This one is getting a lot of play time. I have the Japanese release, but I went ahead and purchased this and it is a great score. Power Scott!

Hm. It's true, whenever I play one of his more action-oriented scores, they do tend to inspire toe-tapping and head-bobbing. That makes a lot of sense. I also see the utility of it, in terms of making the music immediately effective in context of the film.

I beg your pardon, I think you mean "super fun fantastic movie."
