Great release! Already purchased!

Bring on more!

What about a complete SAYONARA?

Or NUN'S STORY, or SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS?

(And I'd love to see a legit 2-CD HELEN OF TROY....)

All Warners, and we haven't been able to crack that nut yet.

It's always amusing on this board to see who is posting what that knocks these new release announcements right down to the bottom of the page - oh, yes, it's always amusing smile

I'm not knocking anything; I look forward to this Waxman. What I find both amusing and discouraging is how discussion tends to proceed from "Great news!" to "Gimme, gimme, gimme something else!" while scarcely pausing to discuss the music itself. By the time we've actually got to hear the music, it's become old news, drowned out by the gimme chorus.

I look at it the opposite of you. The Waxman cd was posted and the "gimme gimme gimme" shows excitement and great interest in all Waxman. People are BUYING this Waxman CD and want to buy MORE Waxman CDs. What's wrong with that Rozsaphile?

What would be worse is the Waxman CD was posted and no one said anything due to lack of interest. Be grateful people are posting positive remarks and are excited about Waxman. smile

So glad my mama taught me to be grateful for the efforts of others that brought me pleasure. Thank you Bruce for your efforts. Anytime anyone can bring more Waxman into my life, I am surely grateful. He is among my classic favorites and this will be a wonderful addition to Beloved Infidel, Sayonara, Rebecca, Peyton Place and on and on...

And it's very heartening that people ARE buying it - it's moving really well.

I wonder how the choices were made back in those days:
Whether to flail back or chest?...... smile

Patricia Medina is going to have a sore back at the end of the day.....
but Mr. Ladd's chest is going to be in even worse shape. smile

Isn't that just like the movies?.....

Elizabeth and Dana Andrews locked in a clinch, in total
disregard of the elephants marauding in the background
and destroying Elephant Walk......and Dana's not even
her husband! Shocking! smile

And the husband, poor ineffectual Peter Finch, guarding
the whole place with his rifle, but waiting for the elephants
to attack and looking in the totally wrong direction while
they're already tearing the place up behind him. Won't he
be surprised when he turns around? smile

Ha! These old posters have their charm, but I don't miss 'em.

Promotion is necessary. Petition is useful fun. I just wish people would say more about the music. Obviously this is difficult when the film is not close at hand and the album isn't available yet. Not knowing these films very well, I have nothing to contribute myself. But I can always hope for illumination from others. What usually happens is that the comments dry up once the disc is actually released. Example (on another label): THE PRESIDENT'S LADY. Fine Alfred Newman score. Booklet notes were uninformative, so I posed a some questions in the relevant thread. Zero response. People just wanted to talk about what they wanted next.

I kind of wish there were more posts when people got the CDs and listened. There were some nice ones on Suzie Wong and it was really fun and interesting to read them.

In other news, we're hoping this will ship on Friday.

I'm impressed! I didn't think anyone would guess it. smile

There's a companion feature with it - like an old-fashioned 1950s double bill. Different composer.

Exciting! I'm unfamiliar with the score and film but I love other Salter western scores so this should be excellent...
