Score Notes:

Four Oliver Nelson suites recorded, awaiting editing. Five or six suites by him for 2024, one a request.

The two special "Hawaii Five-O" suites are in the can (a request), just need to render the videos. Three to four suites planned for this year.

About to finish the final Goldsmith-scored "Destry" episode.

Two more Mike Post suites in the can.

One Michel Rubini suite in the can. Point of interest suite.

One Brad Fiedel suite in the can. Point of interest suite.

Please note: I can't take any salvage job requests or heavy A.I. dialogue remover salvage job requests. They are just extremely time consuming and I have already over burdened myself with salvage jobs for 2024. If I am still doing suites for 2025, there will be no more than half a dozen salvage job suites. Still open to regular suite requests.

Thank you Jason.
Can't wait for these upcoming Oliver Nelson' suites....whatever they are.
However, suspect/expect CHASE and/or LONGSTREET....
And of course de long sought-after Jerry Goldsmith's DESTRY.

This week's suites.

"87th Precinct"
Composer: Morton Stevens
https://youtube.com/watch?v=6h28b6IiM34

Suite #2 covering some more episodes down the line. No further suites from the show this year.

The A.I. dialogue remover was utilized a little on this suite.

"Bay City Clues"
Composer: Mike Post
https://youtube.com/watch?v=wgYQQV4X1bU

Have the blues 'cause that Valentine's Day didn't go well, well, here are some more blues.

This was a short-lived series, lasting only eight episodes. I'm not looking to do entire TV series anymore, but when I saw eight episodes, I thought I might be able to cover the whole thing in one suite, and thanks to the episodes not being score heavy, that's just what I did.

This series features what I consider to be one of his best TV series themes, and probably his best going solo after Pete Carpenter's passing.

MuTel Music:

Two more cues from the Bob Bailey run of the "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" radio program.

"Mike"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=jay1vorLq8I

That is my nick name for the cue; the real name of this cue is not known. This was used a fair amount of times throughout the series, mainly in the multi-parters.

"lonely solo trombone"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=o9_m9ofrGUc

Again, my nick name of the cue. Use is the same as the above cue.

Hey Justin,

Thanks again for this week’s suites:-)

What to expect from Monday's suites: The first and only appearance here of an obscure composer featuring a nearly totally synth score, a TV series suite from Dick DeBenedictis, and two more "Johnny Dollar" library cues.

This week's suites.

"Blade in Hong Kong"
Composer: David Kurtz
https://youtube.com/watch?v=dY8IKMtdFEs

Synth score for a feature-length pilot to a series not picked up. About blah, blah, blah, who cares it sucks.

"Lucas Tanner"
Composer: Dick DeBenedictis
https://youtube.com/watch?v=c22zSrnxmF4

Suite covering the only two episodes of the series he scored. I'll admit I have not gone threw the series, so I cannot say if score from other episodes was tracked in.

MuTel Music:

Two more cues from the radio program.

"cymbal splash/trumpet open [1]"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=KPQ9ZSO83oM

Cue name is a nick name I gave the track -- the real name is not known. As every single time the cue was used, it was heavily talked over, I eventually had to use the LaLal dialogue remover to salvage the rest of the cue.

I forgot that March as the first official day of Spring time here in the U.S.A.; last year I did my "Spring into action" month for March where I had at least one action suite each week, starting with "T.J. Hooker".

Well, the "Spring into action" theme will continue next week. And yes -- I once again launch it with "T.J. Hooker".

A rarity has popped up. The feature-length pilot to the short-lived Robert Blake series "Hell Town" -- with commercials. Catch it while you can:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f89V3p-s3XY

I've stopped everything I am doing to record the score. Not letting it slip by me a second time.

What to expect from Monday's suites: The Spring into action theme for the month for the first official day of Spring here in the U.S., kicks off -- the Chase begins with "T.J. Hooker". And, of course, two more "Johnny Dollar" MuTel Music cues.

Score Notes: Amongst the things worked/working on include more "Remington Steele" suites, two special A.I. dialogue remover Morton Stevens scores (that without such a tool, I would have had to cut each on half and butcher them in the edit, but not now), "Banacek", and three Oliver Nelson scores in the can (just need to render the videos).

This week's suites.

I am late, but the theme from last year of Spring into action for Spring time here in the U.S.A., is back, and will continue into the first week or two of next month as well.

"T.J. Hooker"
Composer: Mark Snow
https://youtube.com/watch?v=l_1hN_ybH3k

Suite #2.

Continuing threw season one. The A.I. dialogue remover was used in parts of this suite. I think you'll be happy with the results. :-)

"Chase"
Composer: Oliver Nelson
https://youtube.com/watch?v=NYU8Tha7dh8

Suite #2.

Continuing threw the available episodes of season one. The A.I. dialogue remover was used in parts of this suite. Previously it would have had to have been choppy in cues, but now...

Pfeifer Broz. Music, Inc.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=jtXiuw2v4Xo

Bonus music for Spring!

This very very special video is of the popular and unreleased trailer music cue heard in different projects over time. We don't even know the title after over two decades.

So, using recordings from three different trailers, I was able to clean up the cue, then I also used the A.I. dialogue remover to further eliminate any talking that was remaining.

The "Star Trek: Voyager" promo had the percussion mixed more prominently and with more oomph, so you'll notice that some.

Even after all this work, I am not sure I have the full cue, with it sounding like parts are still maybe missing. The three source each had parts not in the other, for example.

For more information on the projects used in, see my thread on the unknown trailer music cue:
https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=155960&forumID=1&archive=0

Two more special pieces like this one, over the summer.

MuTel Music:

Again, two more cues.

"4 growling brass"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=nbgINEEN6Uo

Again, my nick name for the cue -- the real name is not known at this time.

Sadly, it has issues, like half of half a second with Dollar speaking. The A.I. dialogue remover just didn't seem to "see" it and did not fix it. Every single time the cue was used in episodes with sound quality that was usable, there was always talking over that exact same section. Very frustrating.

"brass poom/woodwinds runs"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=pecUiOMf-o8

Again, my nick name for the cue -- the real name is not known at this time.

This cue necessitated used of the A.I. dialogue remover because the middle section of the cue -- starting with the in-your-face pronounced brass and timpani three-note open, was only used once in all the currently available episodes. Thanks goodness for the dialogue remover: https://www.lalal.ai/

During the run of the show, there were three edits of the cue that were always used.

And, of course, two MuTel Music cues.

Morton Stevens suggestion sought.

I am short one suite for 2024. As stated a year or two ago, I am doing one suite a month for him from January to November. I have suites for every month but one. I can pick one and I certainly have one to I could do, but I am looking for suggestions.

Minus "Wide Country" -- only 1.5 episodes up and neither are by him.

Minus the failed pilot "Savage: In the Orient" -- no load of the pilot to be found (just a short clip).

Minus "Police Woman" -- I did five or more suites for that -- that's more than enough.

This week's suites.

"Vega$"
Composer: Dominic Frontiere
https://youtube.com/watch?v=PylZkl_MA_8

Suite #2, covering more episodes of the series he scored, starting with the first hour-long episode (since suite #1 covered only the pilot) and working down in the episodes he scored in order of airing. He didn't do that many, so I thin one more suite should cover his work for the show.

Of note: in the pilot he did that awesome cue where Dan just walks after a guy to get him. In the following episodes he did that cue again, with two different arrangements/performances (nit counting an episode that tracks that pilot cue).

I have used the A.I. dialogue remover to save as much of this awesome music as possible so I didn't have to chop it to hell. This suite has been sitting around, being edited here and there since early last year. I'm glad I never got around to finishing it so I could use the Lalal A.I. dialogue remover on it.

"The FBI"
Composer: Richard Markowitz
https://youtube.com/watch?v=pbsj58m5wqc

Suite #1 (of two).

These suites cover the vast majority -- not the whole thing -- score to the season four episode "The Widow".

This is a salvage job effort, where I found score from the episode edited up and tracked into other episodes from this season to season seven, and used cleaner parts to salvage the music. Then in the end I used the Lalal A.I. dialogue remover to try and fix what I could not find cleaner parts for.

Last year MV said no elements could be found (at that time) for the scoring of this Quinn Martin series that ran for nine years. Of course, nothing could be found for "Twelve O'Clock High" as well, then some turned up and hence the La La Land release, so who knows what tomorrow could bring; I don't think nine years of scoring just disappear to never be found unless thrown away or recorded over.

Also included in this suite is an alternate take found in a track-job episode. The differences are subtle and really, unless you put both cues in a program like Audacity and line them up, you probably won't readily hear them. In the opening of the cue leading up to the failed bank robbery, the first half of the cue appears to be edited out of a cue from another episode, so what ever Markowtiz recorded, was apparently not used. I found that tracked part in another episode and the mix was too different for use.

MuTel Music:

Again, two more cues.

"classical"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=gdxuh_0JH0E

Again, my nick name for the cue -- the real name is not known at this time.

Sadly, it has issues. The A.I. dialogue didn't do too much.

"untitled 123"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=XOH-G5p0byk

Again, my nick name for the cue -- the real name is not known at this time.

Sadly, there is a little bit of dialogue in the closing.

What to expect from next week's suites, which tentatively will be posted Tuesday.

The action continues with another Mike Post & Pete Carpenter suite that will again delight fans; and a special Lalal A.I. dialogue remover suite for a Morton Stevens score that if it was not for said remover, I would have had to butcher and even skip like half the score. But now I can present most of the short effort.

And, of course, two more "Johnny Dollar" cues.

Exciting times for score fans from older television music, from April to August. Suites from many shows including "Remington Steele", "Gemini Man", and more, composers like Lalo Schifrin, Mark Snow, Stu Who, and even Wynton Marsalias.

Hey Justin,

Speaking of Lalo Schifrin, did you ever do any of his MANNIX stuff? He did not do too many of them but what a theme! I’ve been streaming the episodes on Prime and Joe Mannix really was Mr. Cool:-)
