The files seems to be deleted on dropbox. I backed the campaign and wanted to download them. I guess I have to wait until they become available again... Yeah, same here. Would be nice to see them back up! I have not downloaded mine either, but I did back the campaign.

If this was laid out in software like Adobe InDesign, when you export the PDF you can make a print-ready PDF or a digital/screen-based PDF by adjusting the compression of images. What was posted earlier this week are likely the print-ready files. Thanks - I don't think there are many who would be printing these files out, given the number of pages involved. Most people read these sort of things via portable devices such as Kindles and so on, and these files (from the experiments I've tried so far) seem particularly unsuited to that.

I've left Taylor an e-mail message and I've had a brief discussion with Jeff about what I'm seeing. If Taylor doesn't respond, I'll move that discussion here Thanks Bruce. I hoped my message would create a reaction in the community and, as I wrote, it's meant as a sincere plea and not just to stir the pot and create a controversy. I also want to say that my admiration and respect for Jeff is untainted. I only want the best for him because his heart is definitely in the right place and this book is something he poured his soul into. I'm sure he will say something whenever he feels it's the right moment to do so.

I think the initial versions had very compressed images whereas the recent links did not. Sorry, missed this first time round. Yes, you could be right. I'm more interested in the text myself - perhaps they should have offered a version optimised just for text but that's like asking for the moon. As I have it on my Kindle now, it's 'readable' and it looks like that will have to do.

The other way around it's not possible though.

As with others, VERY disappointed. Just looking at the basic numbers, initial goal vs actual take, is a big ol' "WTF?" If they'd been more regular and more consistent with updates, I think this wouldn't be striking us so negatively. Yes, we'd still feel negative, but I don't think it'd be to this level. And almost total lack of response to email inquiries... yet another big red flag. It's a damn shame that our high, high hopes for a beautiful set of books on Mr. Goldsmith are likely going to end up VERY late, VERY diminished in quality. These were NOT cheap. If I knew what would happen and how things would (eventually) turn out (maybe), would I still have backed them financially? I'm leaning towards "Nope." Thing is, I still want to read this! Again, as I said, better communication, more often, more consistent, more regular, more truthful and honest, etc. would have eased things HUGELY, imho. Unfortunately that's not the case here. So we're stuck right now with a sort-of update, and an empty Dropbox. I mean, cripes, at the very least edit the post to remove the link!

I'll ask again: doesn't anyone else think it's odd that Jeff Bond himself isn't responding in this thread? He's been on this board for 20 years.

I'll ask again: doesn't anyone else think it's odd that Jeff Bond himself isn't responding in this thread? He's been on this board for 25 years. What exactly is Jeff supposed to say? His role is that of the author. After he delivered his final draft that would be it for his part of this process. This current issue (and one that goes back to last Fall if we’re being nice) rests solely at the feet of the publisher not the author.

Why wasn't there a cap to the KickStarter. Seems odd.

Why wasn't there a cap to the KickStarter? Nearly nine times the required amount was amassed. What is the extra cash needed for? Seems odd.

Creature Features.... Hmmm..... Might wanna follow the money. Perhaps some shadyness involved here. And to think, we all "persecuted" Esterhamner.... I, like others, saw Goldsmith, and went pie-eyed, wanting this to succeed. Bond's involvement negated suspicion, because....we all love Jeff, right? He wouldn't hook up with a Flim Flam Man, right? I don't detect the pushy, annoying, condescending cheerleader here, scolding us we're wrong to be concerned. Interesting. Happy to see others await the physical copies as I am, but I'm wondering where this all is heading. Creature Features no longer has a storefront, correct? That operation has been fairly quiet until this Kickstarter, correct me if wrong? Fishy the size of Bruce (shark, not Kritzer, so we're clear!!), this. Can one withdraw their pledge from Kickstarter? Considering that, if an option. Or, report everything happening now to that platform?

Perhaps some communication about the pulled dropbox files and when they will again be available might be appropriate?
