I just received "La Notte Brava" from Dusty Groove (also the new release of "Un Italiano In America"). The site is now showing it as "Temporarily Out Of Stock" so hopefully more will be in soon. Tracking down copies of these titles with the small press runs can be a bit of a nail-biter, but I'm very thankful that they're at least getting released in the CD format.
Checking the Dusty Groove site just now also tipped me off to an upcoming Four Flies 7" release of Piccioni's "Right Or Wrong"/"Once And Again." Four Flies does a beautiful job with these vinyl releases.
Originally C.A.M. released a vinyl LP (Cms. 30 050) containing fifteen tracks in mono (TT 34:07) and an EP single (CA. 2464) with two tracks in mono. In 1991 the same material was re-released for the first time on CD in the series “C.A.M.’s Soundtrack Encyclopedia” (CSE 077) with audio filtered in dolby surround. For our CD (73:12 minutes) we were able to use a first generation master tape with the LP recording along with the mono master tapes from the original recording session so we discovered almost forty minutes of previously unreleased material, all specially restored.
Hhmmm ... 39 minutes of previously unreleased music is a substantial upgrade.
That C.A.M. CD has been in my collection for around 20 years and - based upon its contents (the LP program) - I've hitherto ranked La Citta' Prigioniera as a below-average Piccioni work. I'm willing to get this upcoming expanded CD and re-evaluate my assessment on La Citta' Prigioniera regarding to the additional material.
Didn't expect this 're-visit' was in the Piccioni album pipeline ... especially considering all those Piccioni titles never-before-released.
I'm rather disappointed these past 6 months that we've been offered expanded editions of previous albums: Un Italiano in America (October 2018), for one - Fumo di Londra (December 2018) for another. Do we truly need a 3-CD set from an Alberto Sordi movie?

Absolutely!
I'd prefer to see these released prior to any further expansions, though:
- IL SEGRETO DELLA SIERRA DORADA - I RAGAZZI DEI PARIOLI - L'IMPIEGATO - BREVI AMORI A PALMA DI MAJORCA - LE SVEDESI - MANI IN ALTO - IL GIORNO PIU' CORTO - TRE PER UNA RAPINA - ADDIO ALEXANDRA - TOH E' MORTA LA NONNA - PER QUESTA NOTTE - CRISTO SI E' FERMATO A EBOLI - LA PRESENZA PERFETTTA
Mere days after my last post - almost as if on cue - comes forth an announcement on Piccioni's music for a series of television segments (1967 thru 1970) under the umbrella title of Islam.
I don't recall encountering anything regarding this opus before. Only a 45 r.p.m via General Music is listed in the soundtrackcollector site for Piccioni's Islam, so this is quite a surprise for me.
Thanks, Beat Records, for departing from the sequence of Alberto Sordi expansions.
This looks like the most exciting new Piccioni release, it goes to priority purchase. Thanks for the notification Zardoz, I too am less keen on Piccioni scores to Alberto Sordi films. Time to revist Ciao Gulliver.

There are never any track samples from Beat Records. It's okay when it's an expansion and we know what the score sounds like, but something this obscure (ISLAM), how the hell do we know what we're buying? I'll buy almost anything by Piccioni, but I've also been burned by some Piccionis that weren't to my taste. In the case of ISLAM, I can't even find a YouTube clip. Can anyone point me to another Piccioni that is in the same style?

This annoys me as well that we have no samples from Beat and Digit.
Four Flies Records and Sonor Music Editions which I take it are also based in Italy are able to put samples up.
Islam seems like it could be very interesting so I will be picking it up.

From what I have heard so far of ISLAM - the four tracks which were on the CAM CML library LPs 007 and 017 in the early 70s - I would compare it with Piccioni´s score for CIAO GULLIVER from 1970 which has music in the same meditative and oneiric Arabic style.
