So, instead of looking into this and fixing the problem, you add insult to injury and just repeated the same thing you wrote earlier! Awesome! How extremely helpful!

It's the epitome of cooperate buzzspeak. Don't even pretend to read what others have said and just spew out what is supposed to be the safest thing to say. It's pretty infuriating.

Indeed. Infuriating AND incredibly condescending.

All packages have been shipped for some time. For the Canadian orders, there was a recent postal strike in Canada, that stopped all mail and packages from being delivered. That strike is over so who knows how much back log Canada has on mail & packages that now need to now be delivered.

smile

Just wow. Totally tone deaf. Read the room.

If I were Mr. Young, I'd be embarrassed to have you as my manager.

As much of a mess this has been (not quite as bad as the other KS that will go unnamed), I don’t hold Young at fault here. He’s a composer and he’s busy composing. However, my admiration for him and his music does NOT extend to the organizers of this Kickstarter who should be working to fulfill Canadian backers' pledges, not lean on a strike that has been resolved for 2 months now.

Well as opposed to that OTHER kickstarter which has become the bane of many of us, at least this CD was actually produced. It's just that I had to buy it again. It's possible that the Canadian orders were all sent at once, but in the midst of the strike backlog were stolen or lost. But the fact that most if not all weren't received by now should warrant a replacement response.

So, I've played this through - fully - 5 times now.
And while it's uniformly very good, all the way, it can be a bit heavy, over the full 92 minutes.
As I do with many a lengthy film score, I like to whittle some away, for my on-the-go listening pleasure.
This one is a bit more difficult, as it's still very long, during the Overture and 5 Acts.
To do any 'clean' whittling, it helps to chop between the legit gaps.
This score has silence between track 5 & 6, 9 & 10, 11 & 12 on CD1 and between 3 & 4, 4 & 5 on CD2, so they are the best pauses to erase stuff.
So far, for me, tracks 1-5 (CD1) and 4-7 (CD2) are essential, with 1-3 on CD2 being very strong too.
The tracks I might lose/whittle, for my highlights edition, would be 6-9 & 10-12 of CD1.
That's still leaves about 1 hour of music in my Best Of edition, losing 30+ minutes of the more moody music (although it's certainly not filler, by any stretch).
Anyone else attempted any editing of this opus?

No, I think the entire 93 minutes are brilliant and if I don't have much time, I'll just listen to one or two acts. Nosferatu contains everything that makes me love music for horror films. A fascinating work that has a lasting impact.

I've noticed for myself that whenever I think of the word Nosferatu, or even the new film - my mind immediately starts playing Chris' opening notes/theme. Just really shows you how great this in, and how impactful Young's thematic work is at least for me.

I know the LP has a shorter program - not sure if you've looked at that to see how it was put together? Maybe that's a more suitable program length?

I just got an email saying that my CD will finally ship on March 3rd via First Class International Mail.

Good to see that this was taken care of. I hope the rest of you recieved the same message.

I very, very, very rarely edit any releases, and Christopher Young's NOSFERATU is composed through, so why would I edit or shorten it?

Of all the albums I have acquired over the decades, there are maybe a handful of film score albums I actually edited and use a playlist rather than playing the album, like the original THE UNTOUCHABLES and THE MISSION albums by Morricone, or the Prometheus BASIC INSTINCT (before it was supplanted with the Quartet release of the score), where the "That's Real Music" cue interrupted the musical flow.

As I said, the full 93 minutes is solid and mostly excellent. High quality film music.
And if I'm relaxing at home, it will generally be the complete work I will settle down to.
But composers (or producers/assistants) have been editing their complete works since we all starting collecting this music.
No film scores (or very few) were released FULLY/UN-EDITED back in the days of LPs and Cassette's and then, even CDs.
It's a relatively new thing for us to hear the FULL SCORE away from the film.
And not all the music travels as well as other bits.
That was the point I was making, in condensing this massive venture into a shorter, tighter whole.
And I know the LP has already tried this, but with the way we can listen/edit things these days, your own personal playlist is always only a few clicks away.

I think it's perfectly fine to edit your music any way you see fit, really. I just mentioned that I rarely have done such a thing myself. Perhaps because the type of film scores I'm attracted to to begin with are those that can stand on their own away from the movie, I rarely found the need to edit them.
Relaxing at home is actually just about the only occasion I listen to music at all (the other is relaxing on vacation. smile).

I do listen to music sometimes in my car, but I tend to chose albums there that play well for driving.

If I'm in a shop, or walking through town, or travelling to/from work, I always have music playing in my ears, via various devices.
Have done since I got my very first Sony Cassette Walkman way back when (early 80s).
So editing and condensing my albums (which still get the full listen treatment at home) has been a hobby of mine since I started collecting this music.
And I don't edit everything.
Many, many lengthy albums (e.g. KRULL, TESB, SUPERMAN) transfer over fully intact, so essential be EVERY NOTE to me.

The difference here is that it is not just a film score, but actually a symphony concert, where Young had complete freedom: no director and no producers to push him in a certain direction. With his film scores, Young very often creates pure audio albums, which sometimes differ from the original music, see 'Killing Season' or 'Monkey King 1 + 2'. This is certainly part of the appeal of this work. It's a shame that they didn't release a double LP, as the music is already very torn apart. Hopefully Canadians will be able to enjoy the CD in the next few days...

Yeah, I don't listen to music when I'm walking through town. I often don't even listen to music in the gym, even though I wear earbuds sometimes. (They just help to keep small talk at bay. big grin )

Didn't escape me, but I want to focus on the main issue.
