I didn't say he was.

Anyway, I went to the Intrada page to se if the score is still for sale; it is, just "temporarily out of stock". I guess the demand for this score is higher than even I knew.

It certainly sounded like that's what you were intimating. wink

The demand for WFRR is what it is. The temporarily unavailable status is due to the challenge in getting items repressed by an ever-shrinking number of plants. I don't think it's rotated in and out of availability.

Just thinking aloud, but: Surely between all the U.S. limited-edition labels (and non-score labels catering to CD's still) there is enough demand to keep one plant open.

We've been told for a while that there was only a single plant left, but Byron Davis from Note for Note mentioned a major one closed just last week which will require some adjustments by the labels (my words). I wasn't convinced only a single North America plant remained and it seems that may be partially true. Maybe that was the one. Maybe that was the last one dedicated to CDs only. I dunno. There's also Disc Makers, in New Jersey I think, who Intrada has used on occasion. And MV recently mentioned waiting for more Harry Potter from overseas, though manufacturing there may not have been their decision.

I guess my point is things are bad but don't appear fatal. At least not yet. But restocking older titles clearly cannot be given the same priority as new titles with new expenses to recoup. MV made that pretty clear recently in the LLL questions thread.

Looking over two pages and reading all Mr. Marshall's comments, not a single one has been to comment on the score, but rather off-topic comments, one complaining about short cues, and now one -- a year later - on how many CD's it is (didn't he see that originally???). He's contributed zero to this thread in over a year.

There's commenting, and then there's commenting, if you catch my drift.

He's not breaking the super soft (marshmellow soft?) community rules and so he's welcome to continue posting his crap. Apparently for all eternity.

Or so I've been told.

Btw one can comment on the music OR the presentation. I will continue to express my views ( in a light hearted) way about what I consider bloated and unlistenable multi disc releases.

As is my right.

Will it include the spelling errors and odd placements of punctuation, too? I mean, just how accurate is it going to be? ;-)

I can't seem to find myself a new copy of this cd. I want to get this cd, Howard The Duck and An American Tail next month along with one more cd. Any one know where I can get my hands on a copy? Tarantula Records has one for $50 plus shipping and that is a little high too.

The big question is: how badly do you want this release? It's a 3-disc set that retailed for $35. Intrada shows it as out of stock, and I wouldn't hold my breath they will get it back in stock (e.g., Rocketeer, etc.) I checked Discogs and this title has been selling for $50-60 (shipping from Switzerland (very expensive to U.S.), with the price gradually trending upwards since its initial release.

You might find it through eBay. A handful of copies have sold between $42-77 (shipped) since August of this year. Otherwise, the only other way you are going to acquire a copy for under $50 is through a trade. Just my two cents...

I don't do trades, unless I have more than one copy of a cd.
I don't care if it is more than $35, not too too high. I just want to get my hands on a factory pressed copy of it. Ebay: Nothing, MusicStack: Nothing, Amazon: Nothing, Screen Archives Entertainment: Nothing.

Marcato,
We don't know if it will ever be in stock again. You would think there would be sellers selling it for a higher price. I even got a email from Intrada Records too stating this: Sorry, we don't know. Unfortunately I think it's very doubtful it'll be back before the end of the year.

It took almost a year to get Winter Soldier and 20,000 Leagues back in stock, and even longer for LaLaLand to restock The Fury (which is out of stock again). In the land of one CD manufacturer, the one with dibs is the king.

Did anyone on this thread ever listen to the album and report on the sound quality?

Sound quality is stunning. Presentation is excellent. Having the film version of the end credits and Horner’s Tummy Trouble is fantastic.

Thanks for the report. Sound quality was way above par on the original 1988 single CD, too. How's the vocal mix on "Why Don't You Do Right?"?

Intrada's album (Disc 3?) sounds essentially identical to the 2002 reissue. Don't know about the 1988 CD.

The whole thing sounds wonderful. The only unfortunate aspect are the first and last score tracks, which sound good but are from a compressed source for some reason.

I take it you are referring to Main Title (0:30) and End Credits - Roger Rabbit Medley (Film Version) (6:32)?

Perhaps they had to use film stems for those (not sure why they would be lossy though). Isn't this version of the End Credits editorially created in any case?
