And why a score such as DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS is so good. I wish he did more of that, and less of the big blockbusters and actions like TOMB RAIDER. This track is so goosebump-inducing and beautiful, it's ridiculous:

No. But you're not exactly the person I go to for credible input on electronic music (or really any kind of music). Of course, in your world, it's not as good as Roger Cupholder's rejected music to the 1976 US television series ALL THE ELEPHANTS ARE PINK.
And you're not the measure either, especially when you write something like that.

Hey, I'M not wild about some of the composers mentioned here, but I try to open my mind enough to appreciate why those folks are getting paid so much. Usually I can find more than good reason.
Apparently people like Zimmer and Junkie are writing music people want to hear. Not sure what's wrong with that, dumbed down compositionally or not.

Hmm. I'm not sure if I qualify as knowledgeable about electronic music since I don't follow it very closely and my tastes have formed somewhat through random discovery. But, e.g., I like Múm, Colleen, Tycho, Flying Lotus, Boards of Canada, occasionally some Venetian Snares, Autechre, & Nurse With Wound, and some poppier "indie electronic" stuff like Neon Indian & Ratatat, among other things.
I've tried listening to Junkie XL, including some of his non-film work, and nothing's ever really worked for me. There are some tracks on DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS that are pleasant enough, but nothing that made me feel much. The particular track you chose here is not one I would have suggested to persuade anybody.

I think it works well as persuasion of his skill in the area. Whether one likes it or not is another thing altogether. That's purely subjective.
Just watched the film. The score is absolutely dreadful. Wasn't expecting much but after hearing Alita: Battle Angel and Sonic, two scores that I found surprisingly enjoyable I thought I might be pleasantly surprised. Nope.
