I've never seen the film nor heard this score before. After listening to samples of the opening theme, and one more, I have to say I REALLY LIKE THIS! It is 'melodic' in it's very own distinctive way that reminds me of Tiomkin's sense of melody for his theme to 'High Noon'. That may not make much sense, but that 'Viking' theme is so memorable!

My copy arrived this morning. Listening to it now, and it's glorious, especially the choral passages! A huge upgrade from the suite recorded by Silva back in the day, and the terrible sounding original soundtrack. Very fast delivery! Are you from Europe or USA? Im still waiting in Poland.

Because life, I just got around to ordering today. Both my wife and I are really looking forward to it...it was the first film music she "noticed" when she was a kid. I totally love that the album keeps the completely loopy, non-grammatical cue title "Violences and Rapes of the Vikings" as it appeared on the Legend CD (and I assume is the title from the cue sheets?) - obviously written by someone with limited English language skills. Not a criticism, but what is it about Italy that in cue titles and movie titles that they always prefer 12-15 words when 2 or 3 would do. Why not "Viking Raid" or something similar? Italian movie titles are often long-winded: "Even If I Wanted to Work, What Would I Do?", "Swept Away by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August" , "Have a Good Funeral My Friend...Sartana WIll Pay". US and British tiles do this rarely as a gimmick, but this seems very common in Italy. Sometimes US movies titles are changed to these long-winded titles, to often hilarious results: the Italian title for "Risky Business" translates to "When the Old People Are Away, the Sons Dance." What is up with that?

Ok, so here's one from left field. Does anyone know anything about a single - 45rpm vinyl record - by the Mike Sammes Singers (or someone similar) of The Vikings theme, from the 60s? I remember a recording of The Vikings theme that was sung with the actual 'The Vikings' motif actually vocalised, as "THE VIKINGS" by the group in question. Yep they actually sang "the vikings...the vikings...", to that motif that is obviously spelled out in music just like (appropriately enough given Tadlow's next gig) James Bernard's Dracula theme. It was played at a friend's house in the 70s, when I was but a kid. I did think it was bizarre then, and not being able to find it on YT.... I just wondered.
