Mine arrived Saturday afternoon, despite tracking saying it would be a Monday delivery! Haven't played any of it yet, but the presentation is top notch, as expected.

In the booklet, James says he has retired and it reads like this is the end of the BYU soundtrack CD line. Am I reading that correctly?

James D'Arc does indeed write that this set is the "conclusion of the BYU Music Archive CD Series".
He says he retired as curator of the archive in 2017.
Hopefully Ray Faiola will tell us more. Only a couple of weeks ago Ray wrote (earlier in this thread) that "At some point SILVER RIVER will hopefully make a fine stand-alone disc. And, yes, there are many others." That seems to suggest more releases to come from the archive.

All I've played so far is the thirteen minutes provided from "The Lion and the Horse" on Disc 3, which sounds great!

Hi Ray, Is this really the end of the BYU Film Music CD series as James seems to suggest ?

Well, based on Ray's recent comments it certainly sounds like these releases can happen without Mr. D'Arc. Surely he has a successor curator, and they can create a new series if the old one was unique to Mr. D'Arc's participation somehow. Assuming the working relationship maintains with the new curator.

I got my box today! Will start playing it tomorrow. It sure is a beautiful package with a big 40 page booklet! What a wonderful release! smile

Ray seemed to indicate that he will at least try for more releases. No comment from Ray so far. I sure hope this fantastic series will continue with both music from the BYU collection and tracks from Warner Bros. too.

Love the RATON PASS soundtrack. Had never heard of the film before this, but what a pleasure to make its acquaintance through the music. A couple of tracks of traditional tunes and a solo church organ cue near the start need programming out, but the rest is a succulent feast of Steiner action and dramatic flourishes! Terrific stuff. Don Juan with Winchesters and Colt 45s instead of swords. I'll be giving this plenty more plays for sure.
According to the notes, most of it was originally composed for an earlier, forgotten film. I'm glad it was remembered well enough to include it in this collection.

Just played CD1, really happy with it. The sound quality is amazing considering the discs are from the 1940's etc. Always liked the main title to DALLAS. Steiner's westerns are full of energy and many melodies etc. The bonus tracks are priceless. There's so much to read in the big 40 page booklet. This is a class act, don't miss it. Thanks to Ray, James, Craig etc. I much appreciate your hard work. smile

Ray has not replied about the future of the series so I guess he can't comment at this time. Let's hope for the best.

You have plenty to look forward to... the best is yet to come!
Only one I was slightly less enthused about was The Charge at Feather River, which has some of those comedic, drunk-pushed-into-the-water-trough kind of cartoonish interludes that I have little patience for.

Calling Ray... are you there?... James' comment in the booklet notes has us worried. Can you ease our concerns?

Jim D'Arc has retired. So the dynamics have changed. We hope to be able to announce the road forward early next year. But as we've all come to realize, these wheels turn slow. There are many titles on our list of wannado's.

So everybody eat your spinach and think lovely thoughts!!

In the meantime, I hope those of you who picked up the Westerns box have enjoyed it.

Thanks Ray for those hopeful words. We will be here to support further projects from BYU and Chelsea Rialto.
