That GDM release wasn't complete, but the only thing that specifically irked me was the lack of End Title, with that constant driving of the beat while Tuco is waiting to be saved. And for me an end title bookends nicely with the opening. The reason for this was Morricone always resisted allowing too much of the same theme on one album (not quite sure how that fits with 3 versions of Story of a soldier and Muerte Donde Vas on 5man army, however...) , nor did he like tracks too short. So the GDM technicians had to try to get a presentation past Ennio, which included glueing some short pieces together- some of the varying lengths of Ah-ee-ah-ee-ah wah wah wahs were slipped in. But their priority was getting the proper version of The Trio, Inseguimento and the Father Ramirez theme in. They wouldve included every second they could but it all had to get past Ennio and they wanted to avoid him going "No, no" and putting a pen through it. So this was why the expanded back then couldnt be more expanded. So now we have the dog's cahones GBU, it might be the start of things to come. We always wondered if his sad passing might allow more music to see the light of day and its looking like thats coming true.

But I still like that mash up of the stereo album version of The Trio, and the soundtrack version. It's great because the watch chime makes a perfect break, so we get the best of both worlds in what to me is a great combo of stereo/mono. The mono is strong enough to make you forget it's not in stereo. Obviously I take on board what you're saying about the rest. Sadly, and this is going to sound TERRIBLE, but obviously we've had to wait while the poor guy dies before we got what we wanted. This could mean there's hope for FWFDM? Anyway. I never had a curry with Ennio.....

I expect all the Quartet releases will be a major topic of discussion on Saturday's Zoom chat.

I too have been waiting for this for forever. Thank you so much, Quartet. The samples sound incredible!

Can I be really uncouth and ask if anyone could please list a translation into English of the tracks as listed? Thanks....

This is fascinating, given that the complete release of Diabolik seems like the same cue run over and over again...

Yes, LP was a re-record and alteration of the tracks, especially the Trio - and that was always the problem. That's interesting. United Artists Records, which was generally pretty accurate in describing its product, always called this the "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack," and not, as with so many of its releases, the "Original Motion Picture Score." The original Eureka Records Italian LP release also called it the soundtrack, so perhaps UA had to go with that, or perhaps they didn't notice the difference. Does anyone know where and when the LP was recorded?

Fantastic release. Even though I got the expanded release back from 2001, it never sounded good and I've been waiting for some label to do a super deluxe edition so I can trade that old 2001 release away. Finally!

Does anyone know where and when the LP was recorded? It wouldve been recorded in the Rome studios, Bob, where he did all his stuff back then. As for the date, im sure ive seen something about this and somewhere in my brain ive got weeks apart but the following month. Dont quote me coz i may have got that wrong. If i find it, i will post it here Edit: movie was certified mid dec 1966. Im certain ive seen recording dates for summer of that year. Again this is from memory. But the venue, "Recorded at International Recording Studio, Rome".
