Oh, you're right about that! Sadly, Part I is not up, but the score to Part 2 was fantastic. I'm actually finishing up season ten right now.

SEASON 9:
I like the repeating two chord lower octave brass under the them for this new arrangement, but other new parts don't work (in my opinion). NO LOAD FOUND. "Nine Dragons: Part 1" By: Morton Stevens "Nine Dragons: Part 2" By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ou88v Highlights: 0:55 in. 5:10 in.^ 11:09 in.^ About 16:58 in.^ 19:05 in.^ 26:49 in. This cue could easily pass off as something from "Police Woman". Scene also include boat porn.^ 33:16 in. 41:33 in.^ 45:55 in. Stevens was clearly inspired by at least the second part (I wish I could have heard the first one!) and the effort and creativity shows. Justin - Sorry to hear you weren't able to view/hear Mort's score for S9's "The Bells Toll at Noon," definitely among my top ten of all "5-O" scores. I think it strange that neither Mort Stevens nor Bruce Broughton had involvement with the series in S11. I'm guessing that during this season (1978-79) Mort had his hands full with TV movies, the mini series "Backstairs at the White House" (not to mention "Wheels" earlier in 1978), Bruce with "Quincy, M.E," most of S3 of "How the West Was Won," and Jerry Immel with S2 of "Dallas." At least the producers of S11 had the good sense to bring in Dick DeBenedictis, whose three 5-0 scores are among the best composed for those final seasons (why Don Ray, the series music supervisor, didn't score any S11 shows is a mystery). As far as John Cacavas is concerned, the one score of his I really enjoyed, "For Old Time's Sake," was composed in S12, when he (ironically) was assigned the one show.

"The Silk Trap" (15) By: John Cacavas (and conducted by) https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6h9b1r Highlights: 1:51/2:47 in. Probably the first two highlights, and 41:45. (NtM: 26:55) About 23:00 in: What is sounds like he said in German, in English: "Fart on me." "Angel in Blue" (18) By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6hb7dv Highlights: 1:55 in. 17:16 in. "A Death in the Family" (24) By: Walter Scharf https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6hdlcg (CORRECT) This is the final effort by Scharf for the series. Yes, just two episodes. Highlights: 0:54 in. 8:07 in. 18:52/21:25 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 36:21 in.^(parts) 43:15 in.^ In this episode, one of the show's main ensemble cast members is killed off. Under normal circumstances in a show that is not science fiction and/or fantasy, you'd never see the character again, but in this case, Hollywood laziness will strike later on in this thread... For the guys here: 28:15 in. You're welcome.
Oh I hate this shit. Yet another episode where the load was mis-titled, so I wasted my time covering an episode with no credited composer again. "A Distant Thunder" By: John Cacavas https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6i822j (in English) Highlights: 5:28 in. 8:37 in. 9:45 in. 11:34 in. 14:17 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(both) 19:46 in. 25:03 in. 26:30 in.^ 34:23 in. 39:15 in. 40:33 in.^ 44:15 in. (NtM: 38:19) I'm starting to dread seeing Cacavas' name on the show, but here it worked because this was more familiar territory. See my thread for "The Dirty Dozen: The Series", where he scored one episode (well worth looking into beyond that for the kick-ass scoring of Doug Timm). By the way, if you've never met a real racist in real life, as opposed to seeing portrayals in film and television or the documentary here and there, yeah, they do talk like this. Met this guy a couple years ago when he helped me with my car. He started talking to me but never said anything wrong, until I made the mistake of telling him where I was going to exercise and hang out. He showed up and slowly ever a period of weeks, he unfolded his deep racism. He said things like: white girls who dated black men, were betraying their race. If a white girl had a baby with a black man, it was a "mud baby". They have tiny monkey brains and can't comprehend things, etc., etc., etc. And he was secretly sneaking in this racist newsletter into a Little Free Library; I would wait for him to be gone, take that shit out, rip it to pieces, and shitcan it. Duke: "Does surprise you to know that ever goose-stepping one of them is a failure." Steve: "Not a it, Drew, not a bit. The losers and the dimwits are usually the ones who end up wearing Swastikas or Ku Klux Klan hoods." Dano: "You're not Nazis, you're Nutzis." Steve: "This is still America, thank God." "Is it really over?" Steve: "Yeah, for the moment, Bobby. There'll always be a fanatic somewhere; a Nazi, or a Communist, or an anarchist."

SEASON 12:
All episodes this final season have a credited composer. The season twelve theme arrangement is better tan it's been in two or three seasons now, but still nothing great. Just my opinion, but the theme went downhill from after season one and never recovered. "A Lion in the Streets: Part 1" By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6i9vhk Highlights: 15:47 in. That's a lot of notes and effort by a cue that underscores a limo pulling up to the gates of an estate.^ 18:23 in. 22:05 in. 29:55 in. 37:20 in.^ 42:16 in.^(43:27/44:06) What's up with the weird cop names in some of these shows? "S.W.A.T." has a guy named Street, and this new season of this how has a new character named Truck. So, how far away were we from Sign and Potato? "A Lion in the Streets: Part 2" By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ikbys Highlights: 3:18 in.^(4:05; EDIT) 16:36 in.^ 25:41 in.^ 28:30 in. 33:21 in.^ 35:34 in.^ 37:07 in.^(part) 41:22 in. Unrelated, but while bouncing around other threads at the board, it struck me how it might have been really fun to hear Lyn Murray score an episode. "Who Says Cops Don't Cry?" By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ikad9 Highlights: 0:57 in.^ 1:57 in.^ About 6:05 in. 13:50 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(both) 22:02 in. 23:50 in.^ 24:58 in.^ 26:43 in.^ 29:18 in. The restaurant source music. 31:48 in.^ 38:01 in. 39:50 in. Almost four minutes long.^ 44:40 in. (NtM: 11:42) For the guys here: 32:30 in. You're welcome. "Though the Heavens Fall" By: Bruce Broughton https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6im8rf Highlights: 1:21 in. Kind of sounds like Goldsmith in 1970's form. Those first thirty or so seconds could find home in a hypothetical "Capricorn One 2".^ 5:57 in.^ 6:51 in.^ 10:27 in. 17:14 in. 19:07 in. 22:35 in.^ 27:12 in. 28:41 in.^(opening/28:55) 33:34 in. 36:35 in. 40:03 in. "Sign of the Ram" By: Richard Clements https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6im8qv This is the only effort by Clements for the series. Highlights: 11:25 in. Cue is cut off by the commercial break. 16:00 in. 19:01 in.^ 22:58 in.^ 26:06 in. Piano cue in a Marvin Hamlisch "The Sting" vein. Another score cue not like it is connected to it.^ I for one am glad this was his only effort. I can name probably a dozen other composers I'd love to have heard from on this show.

A fugue under a minute underscoring a simple scene; I think Stevens just liked showing off.^ 25:50 in.^ 32:21 in.^ 34:51 in.^ 37:42 in. 39:01 in. Over four minutes long.^ Not exactly an overall coherent score, but there's just so much to enjoy here. 41:38 in: What is sounds like he said in German, in English: "Chemo, throw zee steak!" Finishing SEASON 12:
"Clash of Shadows" By: Duane Tatro (as Duane L. Tatro; I think this is the first time I've ever seen him credited any other way [than a spelling error]) https://ok.ru/video/3788791155413 This is the only effort by Tatro for the series. It's not a bad score, but nothing about it says "Hawaii Five-O". Well, not that he had a choice -- second-to-last episode, you know. (NtM: 44:31) "Woe to Wo Fat" (20) (series finale) By: Morton Stevens https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ikbuz Series finale, the return of Wo Fat, the final confrontation, and Stevens. I'm expecting good things here! Highlights: 0:54 in.^ 2:07 in.^ 3:17 in.^ 5:33 in.^(closing) 13:04 in.^ 14:06 in. 19:42 in.^(21:39) 31:09 in.^(32:05) 36:21 in.^ 38:08 in.^ 40:07 in.^ 43:45 in. Not many long-running series with multiple composers go out on the same composer they began with. McGarrett made up like an old man looks like a combo of Vangelis and Kamen. "Aloha, Wo Fat." Tomorrow:
I begin the spin-off, continuation, and remake. And what ever else I find.
