Excuse me, guys, I didn't quite understand if there were Over the Top tapes? if so, who has them? Does Feigelson have?If he had it, then why doesn't Intrada release this soundtrack ?? Not interested?
Is it just you guys kidding?)

Here's the answer from Roger Feigelson:

I have stopped as I ran out of places to look. A real shame. Moroder was a bit cagey about whether he had them, so it's possible he has them, but not much I can do if he doesn't want to help.

Thanks for clarifying Moroder20!
Damn, I'm shocked and disappointed by Giorgio Moroder's response and attitude! .. I hope Moroder will come to his senses !!)

For me personally, the score Over the Top is as beautiful as Scarface.

This is his biggest work with Scarface and Metropolis!
He composed the songs and the original score for these films

It always seemed to me that among most fans Moroder’s Metropolis is one of the least interesting soundtracks. But I liked his work
over the sound of the Metropolis'!

It is his musical atmosphere that's in all his films is incredible...like John Carpenter!!
Scarface
Over The Top
American Gigolo
Cat People
Neverending story
Electric Dreams
Mamba (fair game)
Flashdance
DC Cab
Metropolis
Midnight Express

Arthur Barrow told me that he was a very creative person!

You know, your list almost exactly matches mine)

The melodies he came up with for his scores are just amazing!

My sentimental favorite is DIDN'T YOU HEAR (1971) by Mort Garson. I believe that it was the first score composed entirely on a Moog Synthesizer (other than the one vocal song "Didn't You Hear").

The score has never appeared on CD to my knowledge, but there was a briefly-released soundtrack album on vinyl back in the day.

I hope you have heard Underwater Impressions and Queen Of The South too? He didn't stop working in 1988.

Have you seen The Assignment from 2016? Cyber Eden from 1992?

So many great electronic scores out there that don't make the top 5 for me, so here goes:

Blade Runner (could nearly make the top 5 list from Blade Runner Blues alone)
Crash (one of Shore's very best)
Escape From New York (torn between this and Big Trouble... EFNY was my first electronic score I owned)
Tron: Legacy ( I know there are those who don't like this music at all; I think it's possibly the best score in the last 15 years or so)

And I don't think this has been on anyone's list...

Less Than Zero (my favorite Thomas Newman score..would love to see him go back to this style)

I'd be curious to hear what Arthur Barrow has to say about his time with Frank Zappa.

How is his score for The Assignment?

Jackpot is on youtube. The end credits theme sadly doesn't sound much like Moroder in the 80s:

Shore's Crash electronic?? I just remember lots of growling guitars.

Mrs Soffel by Mark Isham is another one I'd include, but I can't remember if it's completely electronic.
Also, Trouble In Mind by Isham.
Promised Land by JNH is also great.

A lot of early Isham and JNH scores were electronic.

I really love the score Promised Land!
The original album of the soundtrack lacks a lot of material. In addition, the tracks are not in the correct order.

Again, not necessarily "essential", but I've listened to Michael Convertino's "The Hidden" more often than I have, let's say, Tangerine Dreams' "Sorcerer".

Well, as Thor said, some of these scores are purely electronic, and some combine electronic elements. With Crash, Shore primarily used electric guitars, with harps and some woodwind instruments, however, they were all electronically manipulated to get that unique sound.

I should have pointed out that I was thinking about Mark Isham's CRASH, not Howard Shore's.
