Given the success of ANY Goldsmith, a great candidate would be a coupling of The Other and The Mephisto Waltz. I'm generally not an expansion/re-tweak fan, unless truly warranted, but as they currently exist now on CD these two exceptional scores from a creative period really are lacking in many ways--brevity, sound, missing elements.

Are you suggesting a re-recorded pairing of The Other and Mephisto Waltz? Because the original tracks for both exist in good sound. It's simply a matter of them being both controlled in perpetuity by Varese Sarabande due to their 90s release (Bruce Kimmel confirmed years ago), and as Fox is now Disney-owned and I don't know if they have an active relationship with Disney, I fear these two titles might be stuck in limbo... for now, anyway. And it does say 'titles' I hope one of them is “The Cranes Are Flying” Good grief! One of my favorite movies, yet I'm so dazzled by the lighting, cinematography and character warmth that I forget the music. Yes, that's lovely stuff, lovely and a little wild. https://www.tcm.com/video/626596/cranes-are-flying-the-1957-movie-clip-cranes-like-ships Unfortunately we can’t see that video in the UK. In truth, I’m yet to establish just how much music there is in the film. I saw it on YouTube, then bought the Blu-ray just before packing everything away to move house and managed to watch it once, firmly intending to pay particular attention to the score. However I got carried away with the story, the innovative visuals and the overall experience. Weinberg is one of my three favourite composers ever, yet is so much classical music’s best kept secret that his name doesn’t even appear in most encyclopaedias devoted to it! Great film, nevertheless. My congratulations for knowing and appreciating it. And there’s a connection to one of my other top three composers, as Mikhail Kalatozov, director of The Cranes Are Flying also directed The Red Tent. And I don’t mean Aleksandr Zatsepin

I am suggesting a re-recording of The Other and The Mephisto Waltz. That the original tapes exist in good sound doesn't matter if they are unlikely to be released. I mean, I'm like on Year 50 in waiting for that release.
