20. Indy Follows the Ark

I think I prefer the title 'Ark Trek' from the DCC edition. This however maybe Williams' original cue title.

I think it's THE greatest heist/thief film of them all. Untoppable.

Ever seen RIFIFI? Mann liberally borrowed from it for THIEF and HEAT (which is partly why I love them both). Brilliant heist movie. I highly recommend it.

A great film. I'd love to watch it again.

If this set is what it purports to be, well I'll grab it in a minute.

So now we only have the Raiders track list and a poorly written announcement from Concord.

But who would go through the trouble of adding cues to Raiders,re-sequencing it and re-mastering it when it already had a perfectly acceptable release ,without doing the same for ToD and LC.

This Raiders tracklist sounds like someone who knows film scores very well worked on this, and not something just tossed together by a random record producer. It would make no sense to do an overkill job on Raiders and not touch LC and ToD.

This added to the fact that unreleased toD music has been popping up left and right recently (Lego Game,FSM podcast) ,means that the ToD cues are at least available. Maybe the music even came from those sets

Anyone else delighted to see that this annoucement refers to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and not INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK? Cause for hope, I'd say.

isn't this something most of us have been bitching about for sometime to get, now that it sounds like its coming, were still bitching. I myself can't wait and I'm getting mine signed by Williams FOR SURE.

Thanks Concorde

I don't really see any bitching. More like just trying to figure out what's what. If that is indeed the official track list for RAIDERS, then the others will probably be out soon, and we'll finally see what all we're in for with this new set. If TOD and LC are expanded, I'm definitely plunking down the money for it. smile

I wonder what Johnny Williams would think about this thread? Maybe he's watching now... like God... big grin

Great news! It's very likely this set will be very much like the 1993 STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY box: expanded scores from all three films on single discs and bonus CD with alternate takes and/or unreleased cues.

Whatever the case will be, it's excitingly awesome to have more vintage INDY music released! smile

Another boxed set? I'd prefer them separately. For me it's about the music, I don't need an expensive collectible for my mantlepiece. But if this is the only way to get TOD expanded, so be it.

Nobody is bitching AT ALL. What are you talking about? People just want to know whether or not ToD and TLC are expanded. Depending on the answer, THEN you'll see some bitching! smile

For it to be complete, it would have to have a total of 9 discs; 2 for each film and one more for the interview material.
If this is the case, then it will truly be complete, but if not, then it won't.

Raiders complete is one disc. I'd say that in order to get complete versions of Temple and Crusade you would need two discs each. Actually, maybe you could fit all of Crusade on one disc.... not sure. Then you have the original Crystal Skull release and the John Williams interview disc. You are looking at 7 discs max.

I would not like that at all.

And just how "limited" will this be? I don't want to miss this, but you just can't throw out a "limited" label and not say how may copies. mad

Anyways, more Doom and Crusade music will be wonderful. smile

Well, I would be happy and overjoyed to have expanded versions of both DOOM and CRUSADE, even if they're not complete.

I think this will not be a limited edition as in the sense intended by the small labels like FSM and Intrada (i.e.: 3000 copies and not one more). I guess it will probably be available in large quantities, but only for a limited amount of time. So, I'm sure nobody here will miss this release.

Hmmm, expanding 2 & 3 would still cost a huge amount of money because of the re-use fee, etc.

So I think that Concord may indeed could limit the box at 3000 units.
But let's see what happens.

How are people figuring that Raiders can fit on one disc? It goes over 80 minutes, I'm pretty sure. Not by much at all, but it does go over. Now, I haven't tried working it without the concert version (with the coda), so maybe that frees up the time necessary, but that concession should make it the score proper at best, leaving out the concert suite and any other alternates and concert pieces.

The only cue I'm not seeing accounted for (assuming they include the entire sequence in "The Well of the Souls") is "The Mummy Crypt," though perhaps they put that in the "Indy Rides the Statue" track. Oh, and "The Poisoning," but it's certainly possible that that would be placed in the "Bad Dates" track. The seeming absence of "The Mummy Crypt" is puzzling given the inclusion of a more minor cue like "Bad Dates," but it is possible they included it, or it may have been a simple matter of having to fit the CD, so instead of just leaving "Bad Dates" off because it's minor, they went ahead and filled out what they could. I'm curious to see what the case actually is. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to "Indy Rides the Statue," as that was the biggest cue I missed when I first got the DCC release. Don't get me wrong, I love "Washington Men," but it seems like the former doesn't get quite the love I would expect. It stood out to me when I saw the film as a youngster.
