Wonderful thread, Thor. I knew who everyone was on the departed list except Guy M. He died a bit before I joined the board. I loved seeing his old topics. So brilliant. Of course, Howard really brought Guy to life for we later arrivals.
I loved that URL that Thor posted that showed what the old board looked like in 1998. I just read some of those topics, and people could be really snarly way back then. That's never going a way, I guess.
I wonder about Logied. He was with us many years. We knew he battled cancer. Later, he just stopped posting, and I've never been able to track him down. I hope he is well. He was a learned and true gentleman.
I didn't know about Ron Hardcastle either. What a shame. He was very active in his short time here. I remember how he'd get so endearingly befuddled at the many vagaries of our community. He'll be missed.

Hi Joan,
I think this is our boy Logied. Seems to be alive and kickin':
Dennis Logsdon was and is a most kind and generous (and obviously quite talented) gentleman. I'm sorry he's not posting here anymore, but I was glad that all of the links I discovered for him are consistent in maintaining him firmly in the present tense!
I didn't know about Ron Hardcastle's passing either. The thing I'll remember most from his posts is how happy he was with his Klipsch speaker system. He mentioned it a few times. Very sad news.

Yeah, Dennis is still around. I believe he's on facebook too. I remember he gave me a CD-R of Williams' "For Sejii" way back when. "Seven for Luck" too, I guess. Too bad he's not posting anymore. There are lots of old regulars who at some point quit posting on the board, but who are still very much around. Occasionally, they return to the board too -- like Chris Kinsinger or Howard L.
Another person I miss is Dutch. He was so knowledgeable and kind, but he didn't care for any rude behavior so he told me he was leaving. I hope he is well.
Logied, Dutch...wow. Still have the sheet music Dutch sent me per The Best Years Of Our Lives and memories of the night Logied joined me for steaks and a few drinks while passing through the Tampa Bay area. But it is eerie reading through this thread now since I'm back in said area. And still owing the now out-of-state Dana a steak!

I'd come back for it, but it seems like the last time we started planning that steak dinner, a multitude of hurricanes descended upon the state! I'm still planning to collect, though. Hurricanes or not...
Wow! What a waltz through the moldy days of yore! Andre Lux? And "Score Whore" who I believe was the then-current incarnation of our old pal Avie Hern (?) from L. A., a very clever man whose cleverness and utter disregard for the rules always got him in deep doo doo with Sheriff Joe, and who had been thrown off of FSM some record number of times... His comebacks to Eric Paddon in their epic political debates made me howl with laughter! Oh for the good ol' days, when anything went!
"Oh but to spend a tortured evening, staring at the floor, guilty and alive once more!"
Another who I believe hassadly left us was the user who posted as Nathan Brittles. A lover of western movies and scores.
I remember Nathan Brittles very well. I think he has passed away as he said he was in his late 50s and his time was limited. I believe he lived in New Zealand. He seemed like a nice fellow and I enjoyed what he had to say. He had a great love of golden age films and especially westerns. Don't know his real name, Nathan Brittles is the name for John Wayne in She Wore A Yellow Ribbon.
Guy Mariner Tucker (aka H Rocco), caringly referred to as His H'ness by some, was a powerhouse of information and trivia, and one of the most prolific members around untill he left the board around 2001...As MWRuger points out, he was very much into all things Japanese, and was close friend with Akira Ifukube, I believe. He was eloquent, a bit long-winded (but always interesting!) and kind. He also wrote several in-depth articles for the FSM magazine.
