And, unfortunately, "The Dig" is one of my favorites. It is a late example of Goldsmith's elegant mastery of electronics and acoustic orchestra. Thanks again, Mutant, for all your hard work. It's a welcome "blast from the past."

The pleasure was all mine!
Glad I was able to share it with you fellow Goldsmith / Timeline fans. Your feedback and encouragement kept me going.

ps - I love " The Dig" it's one of my all-time favorite Goldsmith main titles. He never stopped exploring how to fuse orchestra and synth and that cue shows him pushing it even further. I'll never forget the first time I popped it in the CD player and heard that track. I was totally blown away, not at all what I was expecting. It's a crying shame that it doesn't fit the film anymore. I've tried a few times, and it's pretty much impossible without cutting the music all to hell. I actually worked with one of the stunt co-ordinators for that film and he mentioned the altered opening of the film. I believe there are glimpses of it in the beginning of the teaser trailer. What a waste of a truly excellent cue.

Pardon me if this one's been asked:

Mutant, what hardware & software are you using to get such professional results?

You're the first to ask!
I use Final Cut Express on my iMac. I usually rip the dvd with an app called "instant handbrake" import that into the timeline (no pun intended) and figure out where the music goes and if any edits need to be made(to the score). Then I review the original soundtrack (with music and fx) and try to keep as much of the sounds and dialogue as possible; I "dip" the audio in places where Tyler's score bleeds through. (that's why there are moments of silence or missing lines in odd places) and I also raise and lower the volume of Jerry's score depending on the moment. The longest part (as you probably know) is the rendering.

I believe it's really important not just to see the music up against the visuals, but to also "feel" it with all the explosions and horses galloping, swords clashing, shouts and screams... things like that. Then you really get a sense of how brilliant Jerry was at writing around dialogue and sound effects, or drawing attention to them.

Mutant you're beautiful man...I'm LOVING this. Just splendid and it's great to see that indeed JG's music does enhance the film quite a bit ( although I quite like Tyler's, too).

Ok, next project, you gotta fix The Plan from Extreme Prejudice.

The old links in this thread are all dead so I will be updating it with brand new better quality clips.
Here's "No Pain"
(some minor music editing required in parts)

I was just thinking about these clips the other day, while listening to Goldsmith's Timeline score. You did a great job syncing the music to the film. Thank you for keeping these alive!

Well I’m glad there’s an audience for these! smile

I’m going to redo mostly all of the large set pieces.
I’m also working on: Air Force One (Newman), Last Man Standing (Bernstein), Troy (Yared), Alien Nation (Goldsmith), Breakdown (Poledouris) and more...

I have Jerry's score but I've never seen the movie itself. So it's very interesting to see the music combined with the visuals they were intended for. Based on the first clip, this looks like another in a long line of movies where Jerry's music goes above and beyond the film.

I hope you'll find the time to upload the other samples as well.
