Best news of the day... Can't wait to get my hands on this CD!

Two of my favorite transitional cues by Horner is in this score, when the crew is taking the shuttle pod over to Enterprise and another later one when there is a cut from Khan to the Enterprise flying through space.

And, of course, that great little music cue when Kirk announces to the crew that he is taking command...

This is film music bliss. Thanks, FSM!

I wonder how many they'll sell at Comic Con. This could be a real financial windfall for the label! I know I'd grab a copy if I saw it there!

At last!! My LP is worn out. So ordered, can't wait!!!!!

Ditto. And the timing is remarkable, as I will be watching the Blu-ray later in the week.

Boy, I'm glad this isn't a limited edition...

FSM would've sold every copy of it at Comic-Con!

I couldn't click fast enough when I saw the cover art at the top of the FSM main page. I kept thinking, "This can't be what I think it is!" Luckily, I was proven completely wrong. Jeezum Crow! What a magnificent release. I've loved every note of that score since I first saw the movie at 4 years old. THANK YOU FSM! I'm so damn glad the Paramount vault is no longer sealed. I'm greatly looking forward to the possibility of a complete Star Trek III though I'm not greedy. This is the best release I've seen in a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time (and I'm elated to see that it's unlimited). Your timing is perfect. I've been on a Horner tangent lately. You have made my year. It's been a sucky one but releases like this make me happy, even if only for the length of the album. That's what they're there for.

I NEVER thought I would see a complete release for Star Trek II in my life time, especially in unlimited form!!!!

Great job FSM! I've so ordered the CD.

Ordered!

One question: do either version of the end credits contain the Spock voiceover?

According to the SAE description page...

Number: FSM801282

Shouldn't the number be FSM801212 ?

The Retrograde line started with 80123 (in honor of Taking of Pelham One Two Three)!

The first version does (per the movie and LP); the second does not (the shorter Epilogue recording)

How'd you convince Horner to release the whole thing (plus an alternative track)?!

Aside from the new interview material for the liner notes, was Horner involved in the production of the CD?

What I'm getting at is, why would he want to create an "album presentation" for the recent "Something Wicked This Way Comes" CD (leaving out certain tracks), and allow a C&C presentation for this score? (Aside from the fact that this score has already been available for years in the "album" version.)

Again, I'm assuming his involvement included those decisions. --Did it?

The shorter epilogue... was this an earlier version of the sequence (before they added Spock's coffin on Genesis) or something else?

WOW!! I had begun to think that this was a pipe dream. Everyone was so sure it was "Gremlins". I remember buying the GNP CD about nine or ten years ago when I was about fifteen. It was the first of the TOS-film scores that I ever bought. I can't believe that we are actually getting this release. FSM, live long and prosper! Thanks Lukas!

JEEZ, HORNER fans must be going broke!

Don't I know it...

I've had four separate orders to SAE this year, I normally only do one or two... eek

But seriously, I'm both gobsmacked and elated that this was the release. I was convinced it would be Gremlins, what with it being the anniversary of JG's death and Joe Dante being at comicon, and I'd have been happy to have that!

Anyhoo, this must be a first, an FSM/Horner collaboration... wink

I sincerely hope it isn't the last (ST:III next maybe?)

I'll bet all will be explained in the liner notes.

Would you recommend someone who had the earlier release, even when ordering the new FSM release, keep the original because of the "album presentation?" I mean, I suppose with iTunes and whatnot it could be recreated if one really wanted to listen to it that way...but I'm just curious what others think.

One thing that bothered me about the GNP OST was the mixing job for it, especially for the cue "Genesis Countdown". Basically instruments coming out of wrong channels and such. I'm glad that FSM was able to go back to the original master tapes and give it the proper remastering job it deserved.

FSM you guys have made my year with this release. I hope in time we see a complete Search For Spock.
