1. It's a our first release with Sony Special Products. They have different production terms than other companies. In the coming years we will have editions of 3500 units all the way up to 5000 units (depending on the title). Most of those titles will be part of our Expanded Archival Collection.
Hmm... interesting. Very interesting.
Yeah, I think HOOK (as a two or three CD-set) might be a 5000 copy release. Maybe STAR TREK 5 as well. FIRST KNIGHT.
Is STAR TREK 1 still with Sony ??
What else does Sony have ?
Star Trek V: Expanded Archival Collection was the first thing I thought of. 2010 is gonna be something!

One can certainly dream and hope. Man, I'd have that in a nanosecond

I love your way of thinking Hubbs !!!
2010 will mark the 20th anniversary of Hook, you're very right ! And a complete score presentation, with all the alternates and maybe even the songs John Williams and Leslie Bricusse wrote before Spielberg changed his mind about making a musical, oh boy, it would be a fan-tas-tic, historical 3 CD Set !!!
And of course, I would also buy in a flash any expanded First Kinght CD !

Nope. "Hook" came out in 1991.
That said, what's with this obsession with anniversaries divisible by five? It seems that suddenly a lot of people here find great significance in these, to the point that somebody actually posted that he'd have preferred Intrada wait until this year to release "Back to the Future" on its 25th anniversary. I know, we're an obsessive-compulsive bunch, but really, does any label let these five-year anniversaries affect their release schedule (aside from acknowledging them as a marketing gimmick when their releases happen to fall on one?). Why would anyone possibly care?
If "Hook" is indeed in the offing (no idea if it is), I certainly have no interest in waiting another year for it so the CD release can coincide with the film turning twenty.

While I agree with your general opinion that there shouldn't be much ado about a movie's 5-year-anniversary, it can be relevant for movie music because the studios tend to release special edition DVDs/BluRays for these anniversaries and it's always a good idea from a marketing stand point to coincide the score's release with these special editions.
I add my thanks to the others', La-La Land; I'll certainly be ordering this one. (Now if only someone would release John Morris' YELLOWBEARD, I don't think I'll have any swashbuckling holy grails left.)

About anniversaries divisible by five, it's just because sometimes it put some light on the movies themselves, and so, on their scores. You know "anniversary edition", all that marketing stuff...

Spielberg had nothing to do with the stage musical Williams/Bricusse was attached to.
Oops, sorry ! So the 2 songs in the film have nothing to do with songs written by Williams/Bricusse, that's right ?
There is some confusion here. Right after E.T. Spielberg announced plans to direct a live action musical "Peter Pan" and Williams and Bricusse worked extensively on the songs through 1984/85. Spielberg abandoned the project but when Hook came along years later some of the song melodies became themes in the score, and a couple of the songs were repurposed including the Oscar nominated "When You're Alone." There was no stage musical planned, but there was a 1976 TV musical "Pan" that Bricusse did with Tony Newley, but this had nothing to do with the Spielberg project.
'Nate and Hayes'( Savage Islands) sounds a bit like his score to 'The Dark Crystal'. I remember seeing it at a Cinema in Sydney called the Ascot when it came out in the 80's. There were only 3 other people in the cinema watching it, and it was a big theatre. I think it only stayed for 2 weeks.
Nate and Hayes, a movie that had passed me by, but the soundclip sounds good and the story of the movie does to, so this is definatly a blindbuy then...Surprise me
Caddyshack LP to CD 3500units? Is this demanded by the studio or is this asked for alot of fans??

La-La Land already explained this in this topic:
Two things regarding Caddyshack:
1. It's a our first release with Sony Special Products. They have different production terms than other companies. In the coming years we will have editions of 3500 units all the way up to 5000 units (depending on the title). Most of those titles will be part of our Expanded Archival Collection.
2. Caddyshack is geared more toward the fans of the film than you collectors. Its a straight LP reissue on cd. It contains 3 tracks of Mr Mandel's score, including his unused "GOD" track. Sorry guys, but there are some golfers out there that have been wanting this for a long time.
