I don't mean to be snotty (honest!), but Joseph Stalin was a brutal dictator responsible for the deaths of tens of millions. Warner Bros. has replaced a logo on a television series, quite possibly on the advice of their legal counsel. I'm not saying you can't regret the loss of the logo you remember, but "Stalinist" just seems a teensy bit out of scale to me.
Again, though, I truly don't mean to be snotty about it.
Never mind. Exaggeration is the name of the game in these parts...
cushinglee said - " I'm sure Jerry would be thrilled to share digital space with Horner. " ------------------------- LOL! I thought exactly the same thing. I can just hear him now, in that irritable raspy voice..."I ain't sharing no CD with that note stealing, sheet stealing, daughter stealing S.O.B!!!" I expect it will thunder tonight
I did think exactly the same thing! And then i remembered that Goldsmith shared digital space with Horner when he was alive.....that Cliff Eidelman produced Star Trek compilation! I am sure it was none to happy with that as well!
Anyway anything by Goldsmith and Horner is great news and I will be ordering!!!!
I think it was MMM who said he found a box at Paramount once (while doing a search) that said RCOM on it but when it was opened it was a different movie score (in the wrong box)
I think MMM was referring to the written score, not the tapes, if I remember correctly.
Also, the Homecoming TV movie is owned by CBS while the Waltons series is owned by Warner Bros. (who acquired it in the Lorimar library).
And proceeded to indulge in their Stalinist logo-plastering or just plain lopping off. (Since The Waltons was the first Lorimar production - Lorimar didn't exist when the TV movie was made - this is doubly annoying.)
I suggest you read the following regarding Lorimar's early hstory:

Which still doesn't change the fact that they didn't make the TV movie ("A CBS Television Network Production").
What a quandary. I collect Goldsmith, but I happily live in a Horner-free Zone. I wonder if I can cut half of the CD with a pair of scissors . . . never tried before . . . .

Interestingly, Lee Rich produced "Do Not Fold, Spindle Or Multilate", which was one of the first television films produced by Lorimar, and was scored by Goldsmith, which probably led them to ask him to score "The Homecoming".
Tonight I am going to FINALLY watch Robinson Cruse on Mars. It's one I've been wanting to see for ages, but am finally getting a chance. Synchronistically, a friend, out of the blue, decided yesterday that I needed to see the film and handed me his criterion disc (http://amzn.to/gWVK2H). Perfect timing, what with this upcoming CD release. Now I'll know whether I need to plan on ordering it along with Homecoming...
