Also found that much, but not all of Twouble with Harry was still there, in stereo.

Most of Man Who Knew Too Much was there in stereo.

Vertigo - there was tons of it.

Joe,

Does this mean that a new restoration of the Vertigo score is still possible?

Cheers

Thanks so much, Intrada, for forcing me to spend even more $$$ just because you guys keep putting out great CDs! I think I'll pick up The Shadow as well, just to make myself feel better. smile

You claim Intrada is lying?

The main title clearly is damaged. Just listen to it.
The rest of the tracks don't seem to have that issue, but even then the sound quality is still inconsistent.

I sold my Rhino years ago (I imagine when I got the Varese Club disc) and have no recollection of how it sounded. I can't imagine, considering the ISO score everyone raves about, that this sounds the same, but it's certainly not in top condition either.

Thank god for McNeely, I guess.

I wasn't interested in this UNTIL i saw the track listing!
A very sensible 23 tracks -(undoubtedly due to mr. Kendall's input;
The Rhino had something like 50 iirc, making it unlistenable!)

SInce I have never bought the complete score in any form i am tempted

Well done INTRADA!

The track 23 seems to be a “cohesive suite” of six separate cues, in pure Special Castration style. WOW! roll eyes

to paraphrase Tuco Beneditio Pacificio Juan Ramirez.....
"id...id.idi.."

No! The Rhino has 50 tracks, but no pauses between tracks that belong together. The listening experience is the same.

Yeah I miss that, the roar on Mutiny On The Bounty is also really well timed. Mind you, I miss the 20th Century Fox fanfare on all those Fox releases.

"Previous release on Rhino label was spectacular album, albeit several major set pieces (including main title & climactic Mount Rushmore sequence) were transferred from damaged elements..."
This new release have the same damaged elements ...

Order placed - looks like a fine upgrade from my Rhino CD, which I still have.

Anyway, thanks to all involved in getting this out to us - looking forward to it...:-)

I won't be bothering with this. Over the years since I was a student I already bought this score 4 times..

The suite from Herrrmann's own 1968 re-recording on "Music for the Great Hitchcock Movie Thrillers"

The 1980 Laurie Johnson re-recording on Unicorn-Kanchana

The 1995 Rhino release

and finally the Joel McNeely re-recording which is a fantastic album.

Ok its a re-recording and it will never capture the ambience of the original but it also contains every last note that Herrmann composed for this score (which I don't think is present on this album since Herrmann had to truncate some of the cues) and there's no annoying source tracks. I'm sticking with McNeely!
