Demolition Man
Sphere

I wonder if we'll ever see these two, considering Goldenthal's troubled relationship with WB.

Looking at that list then top of my wishlist would be

Starship Troopers
Predator 2
Star Trek Nemesis
Air Force One
Dead Again
Rudy
Quick and the Dead
Back to the Future 3

Of course we have been wishing for most of these titles for what? 10 years plus and Varese have shown no sign of listening. Yes Die Hard 2 was a great release and hopefully is a sign of things to come. But this is Varese..... I'm not holding out hope, or my breath.

Revisiting my post of over 4 years ago, Not doing too bad as things do seem to have finally picked up. Four crossed off from Varese, 1 from LLL. Air Force One, Rudy, Quick and the Dead to go....

Is there a thread somewhere abouts with a complete list of in perp titles? I'm guessing you're not updating this one? (Brainstorm isn't there).

Thank you Jason!

No harm no foul, just giggles me when I see a few on here and not on here smile No I will not be adding to it, but it's fun to see the titles on some smile

I giggle at this list every time I see it. Lots of goofs but oh well smile Things will come out when they do kiddies smile

Peter, if some of these lists have titles that are not Varese perps, please feel free to correct us. I think some people might take your comments the wrong way, i.e. it sounds like 'some of these titles shouldn't be here, but I'm not going to tell them which, I'll just giggle at them instead'. I'm sure you didn't intend it to sound that way, but it does.

I'm sorry Peter K - I love you dearly, but I agree with litefoot. It isn't very helpful for you to pop in and say Yavar's work is incorrect, and that it is in fact so incorrect that it makes you laugh at him.

It would be significantly more helpful if you could inform us which titles we think Varese owns in perpetuity that they actually don't, so that we can petition the other labels to work on those titles.

If you're not going to be helpful, then please don't tell us you are laughing at our incomplete knowledge.

Again, love you buddy, please take my critique in the spirit in which its intended.

Please take a look Varese!

James Newton Howard: DELUXE A Perfect Murder, Dreamcatcher, Freedomland, Interpreter, Bourne Legacy (WHY never any Deluxified JNH? frown)

Because all of those scores are bad. Outbreak was good, and got a Deluxe Edition.

Just updated the first post based on this exciting revelation from Varese that they did not get perpetuity rights for most of their early Patrick Doyle releases:
"Varese no longer has the rights of Dead Again, Indochine, Needful Things, or Donnie Brasco."

Sadly, Carlito's Way, the one I want Deluxified the most, is an exception to this. Hopefully Varese themselves will judge that one worthy of a revisit.

Carlito´s Way could be Doyle absolute masterpiece, and he wrote a fairly amount of them back in his early days.

Breathtaking.

Those scores are not bad at all, they are just not as good as Outbreak may be, but far greater than anything currently composed for the same genre.

On the other hand, DANTE'S PEAK badly needs a Deluxe Edition! Come on, Varese!

Wonder what we'll be crossing off the list in a few days because of a great expanded edition...perhaps there'll be another horror themed batch like this time last year? Scream 3? Omen 3? The Haunting? The Other?

Or perhaps even without having perpetuity rights, Varese will revisit Dracula or Needful Things. What's YOUR wish list for October 30th?

As always it's seaQuest DSV.

But I'm just a mere talkin' dolphin blowing bubbles in an ocean of more popular soundtrack releases.

Williams' Dracula. Taken from newly unearthed tracks that sound phenomenal. I'm not saying there are newly unearthed tracks that sound phenomenal, but that would be my wish. Because, well, that poor soundtrack deserves white glove treatment.

I don't know if it's possible, Yavar, but I'd like a reissue of Elmer Bernstein's Ghostbusters, which I missed the first time. smile

Oh how I want this too - but it's already been established that Varese can't re-release this one - and that LLL was trying to do Ghostbusters II but composer Randy Edelman preferred that SONY (AKA Madison Gate Records) keep all their Ghostbusters music under one roof - and since that time there's been nothing out of Madison Gate - I keep prodding them on Twitter occasionally - but the most I've heard back from emailing them directly is that they are not planning anything at this time - but I hope that changes!

Why can't Varese re-release Ghostbusters?

Why can't Varese re-release Ghostbusters?

I'm certainly not privy to the specific paperwork on this, but all indications are that they only briefly held the rights – possibly their rights included only that one pressing, or was only for a few years (the CD came out eleven years ago).

Varese rarely (if ever) invested in perpetuity rights for things premiered as their limited Club releases...when you think about it, why would they?
