I don't think there is all that much more music in Moonraker. Little Gareth Bramley listed all the cues and I think it's around 45 minutes in all, and not all of that would be suitable for inclusion:

OPENING TITLES 0.21
SHUTTLE IGNITION 0.40
PARACHUTE FALL 0.30
JAMES BOND THEME 0.54
CIRCUS 0.22
MAIN TITLES (Shirley Bassey) 2.45
THE DRAX RESIDENCE 0.42
CENTRIFUGE (1) 0.40
CENTRIFUGE (2) 0.58
BOND MEETS CORRINE (1) 0.53
BOND MEETS CORRINE (2) 1.21
CORRINE PUT DOWN 1.02
BOND IN VENICE 0.30
BOND PURSUDES GOODHEAD 0.36
GONDOLA CHASE 2.05
PROCESSION 0.40
BOND SMELLS A RAT 2.11
BOND MEETS GOODHEAD 1.15
BOND IN RIO (1) 0.59
BOND IN RIO (2) 3.00
7 UP 0.42
CABLE CAR 1.48
RESCUE OF JAWS 0.42
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN 0.40
BOAT CHASE (1) 0.35
BOAT CHASE (2) 0.28
GLIDER 0.22
BOND LURED TO PYRAMID 1.56
SNAKE FIGHT 1.04
MR BOND/DR. GOODHEAD…I BID YOU FAREWELL 0.32
FLIGHT INTO SPACE (1) 2.21
FLIGHT INTO SPACE (2) 3.00
LAUNCH FEED PROGRAMME COMPLETE SIR! 0.21
EMERGENCY STOP 1.06
SPACE LASER BATTLE (1) 0.44
SPACE LASER BATTLE (2) 1.20
HERE’S TO US 0.51
FLIGHT INTO SPACE (3) 0.32
FLIGHT INTO SPACE (4) 0.32
I THINK HE’S ATTEMPTING RE-ENTRY
/ END TITLES (S. Bassey) 2.27

A lot of those tracks would segue into each other on a possible CD. I don't think you could include every bit of music, but certainly another 10 minutes smile

Will the non-expanded CDs have re-mastered sound? The current Moonraker CD sounds terribly muddled.

Lukas, Is there a possibility if these CD's sell well that a compilation CD may emerge sometime in the future which will encompass the music that wouldn't fit on the expanded CD's? No matter what cues that might be considered as a little less unimportant than others, I am sure that somebody's favorite cue will be among them! For example, the cue in 'Thunderball' when Bond greets Domino underwater before the beach scene when Bond tells her about her brother's death is my favorite among the presently unreleased cues.

Also is there a possibility some of these newly remastered soundtracks will be available in a multi-track format for a possible re-issue in a 5.1 format. Have the new masters been prepared in that format to anticipate such a release?

The underwater cue in Thunderball for the swimming with Bond and Domino is on there.

Fellas, I'd love to answer more questions but this isn't my show and I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

The ones I worked on (Tball through Live and Let Die) do exist in multitracks that could be remixed for 5.1 but they'd have to be retransferred at 96/24 bit, as our digital copies for these CDs were made at 44.1

So, er, will the non-expanded CDs have re-mastered sound? There's an analomy on Flight into Space track on the Moonraker CD.

Um...there's an anomaly in your analomy.

The non-expanded CDs will be remastered but as they are not being wholly remixed they will not sound substantially different or improved from the previous releases.

sorry charlie

Lukas, how do you define wholly?

You're right, that's an unnecessary word.
I don't know how I'd define it.

And while the older Bond CDs are being expanded, new Bond movies continue to be made (Die Another Day) that have limited soundtrack releases without the ENTIRE score on them as well. The arguement once made to me (in 1995 or so) was that MGM didn't know the Bond music was so sought after by fans (yeah right).

Well, MGM can't make that claim now with what they're doing! So why is the the latest Bond CD so lacking "in bigness?" My guess is to get us for ANOTHER $21 or $24 bucks three years from now. Oh brother!

Well, I guess without even trying, I was correct. The latest Bond soundtrack IS lacking in "bigness." 60 MINUTES LACKING!!

Thanks Nick for the great review. You hit the nail on the head! Now we just have to wait for the expanded version---Oh brother.

There is one track on the Goldfinger score. I don't have the title list handy but it's basically a rock instrumental version of the theme. The track has always been a disaster sonically. It's never been more than fake stereo or mono at best with very poor quality. Hoping maybe with this new version they were able to improve it.

That's true. But the older Bond scores DESERVE to be expanded. The newer scores do not. Are you saying that you want MORE of the wretched noise that is "The World Is Not Enough"?!?

I'd take an extra 5 minutes from Moonraker over an extra 60 minutes from Die Another Day anytime..!

Oh, I don't mean to imply that older Bonds shouldn't be expanded! Gawd knows we've waited long enough. My POINT WAS that since MGM KNOWS we want the entire soundtrack released, and THEY FINALLY release the entire soundtrack, why not just do it from the start? Release every Bond soundtrack in multi-disk form. I'd gladly pay $40 for the entire sondtrack everytime a Bond movie came out.

Dr. No's original title sequence has never been released, and they are re-releasing the original LP? Hmmm. Bad decision IMHO.

Have EMI released a press release?

The CDs will feature the original LP programs followed by bonus sections of previously unreleased tracks.

Are the liner notes going to indicate the chronological playing order, as the Ryko CDs of LIVING DAYLIGHTS and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (more or less) did?

They probably will but some of the "bonus" tracks on those titles were edited into mini-suites. While this arguably makes for a better listening experience (many cues on the original albums are themselves edited together) it's harder to program them back into film sequence.

For example, the track "Gunbarrel/Flowers For Teresa/Sinking The St. Georges" on FYEO is taken from cues scattered around the film. But then so was Conti's original "Melina's Revenge" which consists of the cue where Melina's parents are gunned down followed by the pre-title helicopter sequence. Nuts!

Oh how I'd love for these albums to be completely resequenced into film order. Any ideas why this hasn't happened? I know it's all to do with some bizarre legal thing... does it have anything to do with Monty Norman's legal ownership of the Bond theme or something?

If all the music on the disc, but rearranged into suites and such, I'm just happy to 1) have the music on disc and 2) have a good listening experience. If I want to hear each individual cues in chronological order, I'll watch the film. If I want a great listening experience, I'll put on the album.
