how seriously will a request be considered ?

I dont want to have to waste my time putting cues I like up for a slim chance.

Extremely seriously! As Indy said: "hey...it's me."

Lk

okay ...who is indy and
does that mean any cue I pick will be put on the set? I mean If I say for example ...I wish I could have the entire score from the episode Timescape TNG season 6 and season 7 ENERGENCE ...will ya do that?

That was just a little Indiana Jones reference, to mix franchises.

I cannot guarantee that we will include everything that is suggested but we are closely paying attention and will do our best!

And if possible without the nature sounds, but with the smash and Sorry from Qpid. Would be a nice joking way to finish off a CD...IMO.

I think Aktuh and Maylota with Worf's vocals from "Unification II" would be awesome! I've always had a soft spot for Klingon opera.

This is also pretty good up until the 41 second mark. From Thine Own Self.

Oh! Film version of "Inner Workings" from TMP with the wind machine!

I've made my own edits to get a film version of The Meld (with the blaster beam FX at the end) mixed into A Good Start. Same with getting the LP version of Battle in the Mutara Nebula using (mostly) the new CD mix. But I don't know if there would be any obsessives interested in either of those.

But, y'know, TWOK Epilogue / End Title sans voice over. Right? smile

"I think Aktuh and Maylota with Worf's vocals from "Unification II" would be awesome! I've always had a soft spot for Klingon opera."

Oh, that reminds me- the Klingon drinking song in DS9: Way of the Warrior, Pt. 1. Surprisingly catchy. If there were a collection of sung-songs, I'd nominate that, and the Worf birthday song from TNG: Parallels.

For that matter, if anyone else is up for Klingon songs (not a particular priority for me; like I said, as long as the Star Trek IV prologue and the Secret of Vulcan Fury get consideration, I'm good- the rest is just brainstorming), there is the Doctor/Seven rendition from VOY: Barge of the Dead, the Klingon festival from TNG: Firstborn, the song ending DS9: Soldiers of the Empire...

Like I said, not biggies for me, but if an earlier suggestion can jog my memory, maybe this will jog someone else's...

Either way, unless one of the discs was a Klingon Language Songs cul-de-sac (which is getting BEYOND obscure), these may not have a place. But, they bear mentioning just in case. :-)

I can't think of any episode in particular, except Calamar from Enterprise .

I would love to see expanded versions of DS9's Emissary, Voyager's Caretaker and TNG's yesterday's Enterprise and Unification but pretty sure that is GNPD's territory.

For this 50th anniversary edition I am hoping for a 4 disc set, one disc for each spinoff series.

Just to add some further clarification

We still plan on doing DS9 Vol 2, Enterprise Vol 2, and Voyager for this year, so any episodes that were not included on the original releases from us you shouldn't bother listing.

Think obscure.

Thanks

Also, list anything that was left off the films as well. We will do our hardest to include those as well.

MV

MV - Do I understand this correctly, only to include missing cues of episodes that were released previously, and none from previously unreleased episodes? Does that go for TNG as well?
Thanks

David

The original recordings for Star Trek: Borg were available on Dennis McCarthy's site a few years ago:

Personally, if this set is celebrating the entire franchise, I'd say the film version of the Epilogue and End Credits from Star Trek II without the narration would make a nice cap for the end of the CD.

I love it with the narration from the late great Leonard Nimoy, and the Star Trek II CD from FSM/Retrograde is IMHO perfect, but this would be an amazing way to pay tribute to James Horner's breakout score.

As for material left off of the movie CD releases completely: Spock to Spock from Star Trek Into Darkness comes to mind, and perhaps "Awasoruk Jam" from Star Trek (2009).

I know, those are Varese Sarabande. smile

Another off-the-wall idea might be to release some sound effects from the classic Star Trek movies.

Those sound effects are iconic, instantly recognizable, and with the exception of "Reel Hollywood Sound Effects" on GNP, unreleased.

Broadly speaking, anything that celebrates the amazing works, music or otherwise, that has buried itself into our collective consciousness and hearts for 50 years and beyond, is humbly appreciated.

Any alternates from Star Trek: First Contact. I know there's a you-know-what out there with slightly alternate versions (or alternate mixes - I don't know) of "Retreat" and "The Dish." Minor differences but hey, it's us. smile

The film version of "Distress Call/Harriman and the Ribbon" from Star Trek Generations with the extra percussion around 3:00. In the film, it's at 10:35 give or take. "Captain Kirk, I would appreciate any suggestions you might have." Would be nice but it's minor.

Also in Generations, the film version of "The Final Fight" which features an extra little flourish (a piece from another cue, I think) in the film around 1 hour 45 minutes plus a handful of seconds. It's the shot of Kirk catching Soran's control pad.

The Generations cues are probably too long to justify what is basically a total of 10 seconds. I can live without them - just a thought! And I know it's nitpicky but I always loved that little heroic moment in "The Final Fight."

Anything missing from the Giacchino film scores (Varese, I know).

These are probably lame requests, but:

The film version of the Market Street cue from STVI: TVH. Intrada couldn't find it, but could something be worked from the stems?

And the lamer one that will just have people looking funny at me: STV: TFF, cue: "Open the Gates"
When the La La Land Records release came out, the metronome ticking away with the piece, which to me fits in kind of nicely, was gone -- no shock, I kind of expected that. What I didn't expect is that it was also removed from the original album presentation on CD2. Plus, and this is my opinion, it's just missing the "oomph", especially the crashing notes at the end.

As I recall, Roger said the STIV prologue was nothing more than an edit job of the alternate cues which were on the Intrada release.

I forget whom said it, but the little bit in that Generations cue, was not by McCarthy, but created after-the-fact editorially by somebody.

You're right - I think Ford Thaxton mentioned it was done editorially (and that it's not an uncommon occurrence). I just like that moment. smile

And you are correct about the Star Trek IV prologue. I remember asking about it myself and I think Lukas said all the material was there, just not edited.

Please, "Inner Workings" from ST:TMP with the wind machine intact during the V'Ger reveal!

The whole STAR TREK V recording sounds lackluster to me. Always has. The LLL hasn't much energy. I'm sure it reproduces the digital tape fairly accurately but... I'd have preferred more "wow".

Hi Gang:

I really appreciate and enjoy all the requests. There is so much great stuff to choose from!

The input has been more than I expected and just as a practical matter, we won't be able to fulfill EVERY request—but we should be able to satisfy many if not most of them.

Keep in mind that anything involving the feature films, vocals, or trailer music represents extra licensing work and $$$, compared to straight-out television score cues, so we have to be judicious in deciding what to go after. Personally, I'm not inclined to go about creating alternate edits of things already released except for in special cases.

We will keep this thread open for weeks if not a few months while we work on Voyager, and then rest assured we'll be going through it (as well as threads on a couple of Star Trek sites) and making spreadsheets of all the requests.

I understand where you're coming from, I really do, but speaking only for myself, I'd be much more inclined to buy this set if there were at least a couple movie alternates on it. The Trek movie scores do a lot more for me personally than most of the Berman era TV stuff, Ron Jones aside. Just spitballing here, but maybe the movie stuff could make a separate release entirely!

Still, this set is a really neat idea! Even if no movie stuff ends up on it, I applaud LLL, Lukas, Paramount and everyone involved for making it and the entire Trek score renaissance happen!

I'd much rather have the alternate prologue/London Calling piece from Star Trek Into Darkness (known from an IMAX sneak peak). I'd also be interested in the original version of the End Credits from the same film (known from the boot). I suspect the Giacchino scores are probably the hardest/most expensive to license however and I won't be terribly disappointed or surprised if nothing else surfaces from them.

Beyond that, I'd second most of the movie alternates mentioned above -- different wind machine mix from TMP, narration-less TWOK finale, any alternates from FC... Any of those really.

If it's been mentioned already sorry for being too lazy to look. How about the Algolian ceremonial rhythms from Ménage a Troi? Sorry I don't have Netflix times at the moment.
