Penthouse Seranade 1951. Erroll Garner

Lovely effort Erroll. I think some black musicians had that unique ability too drag & delay rubato that beat which white piano players can't seem too duplicate, this sounds lush cocktail-style of 1930s sublime jazz - beautiful melodies Garner was a jazz magician a pianist in leading styles.

The disc itself credits one Georges Delerues.

Which is a lot funnier than anything in the movie!

Saw the new Midway movie today. The film was solidly entertaining, but the score was ASS, so I needed some musical nourishment when I got home.

THE INVADERS - music by Dominic FRONTIERE

The Invaders. In color!

"The invaders: alien beings from a dying planet.

Their destination: the Earth.

Their purpose: to make it their world.

It began with a closed, deserted diner, and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey. It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy...

Now, David Vincent knows that the invaders are here. That they have taken human form. Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun…"

A QM production.

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!

Fantastic album, concise and packed with great melodic nuggets.

Horner in his 90's "sensitive" mode, which I always enjoy. Doesn't crib too egregiously from other similar scores of the period.
