Just ordered duplicate copies of the 15 CD Star Trek TOS Box Set, and the Land of the Giants 4 CD Box Set. I love these recordings, and will hold on to them until they go out of print, and then hope to make a few extra bucks for doing so. I speculate on the soundtracks I believe in.

Smart thinking. I believe we have less than 100 units on both now

MV, will that be it for all 6000 units of Star Trek TOS?

4500 units (roughly). no more after this

Hey MV,

What are the biggest sellers from this sale and is there anything in stock that may soon go OOS. Hope you are doing well.

I second the latter half of the question.

I wish they had a "text-only" version of their catalog.

Scrolling through all those pictures has put me off going there to shop.

Jesus, we live in a world where a company can't even move 6,000 copies worldwide of the most impressively comprehensive soundtrack release in history. I can't begin to describe how much that depresses me.

To be fair, it's over $200 not even counting shipping. That's a big chunk of change for the average collector.

If there aren’t 6,000 people left in the world who rise above the level of “average collector”, especially considering the extraordinary trove of riches provided by this set, we live in depressing times.

Heh, at least the TREK box got released. LLL can't help it if the fan base has literally died off.

There's a global crisis, but it's only when it delays a new release that it really makes this fan suffer (LOL):

The show debuted in 1966, not 1936.

Any chance Passion of the Christ will be back in stock?

That title is out of print

Same for Patriot Games?

It doesn't work that way.

So what other implication were you making than the majority of STAR TREK fans died before age 60?

I didn't imply anything you've posted. I commented on your post which simplified the fan base with the show's debut. It's more complicated. And we're not talking about ALL Star Trek fans. We're specifically talking about soundtrack fans of the original series. That's going to be a minority subset among Trek fans and among soundtrack fans.
There was probably a 20 year window for its soundtrack fan base to develop. By the 1980s, music styles were changing as well as TV series, so younger soundtrack fans might not care for it. Just as older soundtrack fans who were more movie-oriented didn't care for it, either. Of course, taste can change, both for and against music.
So in that age bracket, among the subset, there probably has been enough die-off to matter. The only reason the complete "Lost in Space" sold out is because LLL issued 1500 units, and they were selling it at a huge discount at the end. I know LiS is not the ST:OS, but there are similarities.

I don't think it was lack of interest, interest was there. It was price and the fact it came out during an economic down turn which we really haven't recovered from and now were in a much worse situation.

Surely it was a combination of interest and price. I think selling nearly 70,000 discs of a 55-year old TV series in a post-iTunes/post-piracy world isn't bad at all.

If you mean 4500 box sets (15 discs each would be 67,500 discs), I agree it's an impressive indicator to look at the sales, especially considering the price. But maybe Kritzerland can re-issue the Box by season and really clean up! wink

You’ve really done nothing to counter my original assertion regarding the fact that, for a franchise of STAR TREK’s notoriety, 6,000 copies WORLDWIDE couldn’t be moved is a depressing state of affairs.
