Amer Zahid: Nice. I was playing this on my app- Noticed a lot reverb on this.

Engineer Bruce Botnick stated he was involved with this project during the E.T./Poltergeist retrospective at Creature Features a few years ago.

During that presentation, Mr. Botnick rhapsodized about a very specialized audio mixing chamber at Disney that, if I recall correctly, had multiple concrete speaker implacements arrayed in a semi-circle around the pickups.

Said chamber might have something to do with the sound of the current Aladdin issue.

The sound of the CD is a bit forward and thin but not uncharacteristic of some of the recordings from that era. It’s a lively recording but I don’t notice an excess of reverb. Not bad on my big boy system but don’t expect jaw dropping sonics.

I don’t have an alternative Aladdin pressing or recording to compare with.

Music is great!

From my recollection all the 90’s scores had all the songs upfront, followed by the score tracks. I always found that sequencing annoying.

In fairness to the producers of those albums, I would guess the vast majority of buyers listened to the songs and never went any further.

I know why they did it. As a score fan I still disapprove.

Yeah, that was annoying. But that's how people listened to these things, like pop albums... continuity or musical construction be damned. These films were basically musicals (and Alan Menken is basically a musical composer), and so the music and songs are best represented in their natural (in this case chronological) order. Intsead, these albums just splashed the songs upfront and then inserted some score (as if on "Side B") as an afterthought. Those weren't pretty albums.
I like ALADDIN a lot, good film, fun songs, good score. Hope it will restock.

Yep, when I worked in an office a co-worker and I could play music. He liked some of the Disney soundtracks. He would play the songs but skip every instrumental track! One time I tried playing The Lord of the Rings soundtracks and he asked me to turn them off. LOL

Edit: My copy is out for delivery today!

It's back up for sale at DME! Still limited to 3 per customer. Perhaps it will stick around longer or be restocked again, but I'm not chancing it, so I just placed my order.

I'm assuming no "Where they cut off your ears if they don't like your face" lyric in "Arabian Nights".
Exactly. What a pity.

It would be nice if DME would actually process my order through instead of automatically rejecting it / canceling it every time I try to make an order attempt with them. Why is it such a massive issue for this site to have my shipping address be a USA address but my billing address be Canadian? I'm just trying to cut down on shipping costs.

I had this same issue trying to order Hunchback of Notre Dame back in November of last year, and I *still* can't get it now paired up with Aladdin.

Imagine if Aladdin sells out and goes out of print, before I am ever able to order the damn thing, solely because the website keeps rejecting my info.

Can Intrada or Screen Archives PLEASE order copies of both Aladdin and Notre Dame, so I don't have to keep trying with DME???

I think SAE will have it in due time as they have their other releases.

I haven't been on the forum in a while and I check it to see this great news! I might get it next month. This is one of my favorite Disney scores. I remember falling in love with the music when I heard it while watching the film in theaters all those years ago.

I believe I was in high school or perhaps on summer break during that time. I honestly can't remember for sure. I just remember seeing it theaters here in Salt Lake City with family and my parents and I were up here visiting family at the time.

I’m not so sure about that. Hunchback has yet to turn up on SAE, so it’s possible Aladdin won’t turn up there either.

I have a question for other memebers from Europe who have ordered from the Disney Emporium site: how did you do it? Every time I try to log in, I get a message saying I'm not eligible to log in at the moment.

Retailers shy away from shipping to other than the billing address in fear the card was stolen. This has become a huge problem in the internet age.
