Hey MV, quick idea I was thinking about while on the John yesterday...

I know that the "The Final Frontier" set was meant to be the end of the TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT releases (due to cost I think it was?) What if, instead of releasing a single TNG or DS9 (etc. etc.) set every year or so, releasing a 4-disc bundle of all four of the TNG-era shows every year or two, much like the TFF set from last year?

First off, more fan requests would certainly mean more people interested in purchasing each new set. And another thing is that, while some individuals perhaps only purchase sets from specific shows (say TNG for instance), this being a bundle I imagine would mean more people buying each set. For example, I'm not very big on Enterprise personally, so I've largely avoided the ENT sets; however, I of course gobbled up last year's set because it included music from
the other shows (and in fact, listening to the ENT disc made me realize I was missing out on some really great music!) So rather than 4-discs of, say, DS9 music every ~4-5 years, this would mean 1 disc of DS9 music approximately every single year (or whatever the interval would be)!

I'm not businessman, so I don't know how well this idea would work, or if you guys have already given it thought before, but to me it sounds like the optimal way to keep releasing music from these shows that fan are hoping for, while at the same time possibly upping the number of buyers per set, and obviously drastically lessening the amount of time for music from each show to be released.

The box set is one of my most prized score possessions of all-time (probably only matched by the SW box and anthology releases from '93 and '97, the Indy box set from 2008 and the Batman and Batman Returns sets). Being the huge Classic Trek nut that I am, I may end up picking these up.

But glad folks who never got the box set will have a shot at collecting all the great classic Trek scores!

…If you have any more questions regarding STAR TREK ONLY please feel free to ask away in this thread. If you start asking questions in this thread about other properties other than TREK I will personally banish you to Ceti Alpha V. smile

I can't resist: any news about "It Takes A Thief", the 1966 "Batman"- show, "The Rockford-Files", "Magnum, p.i.", "The A-Team", "Airwolf", "Miami Vice" & "MacGyver"? smile

I'm sure the answer is no

Btw, you quoted member jkruppa ("answer is no") who was talking about download versions (presumably audio), not your post.

Yes, thanks. I'd still like to know the answer!

But seriously, I really like the formatting of Episode # recorded date • Aired # broadcast date
The out of sequence airing of TOS has always been difficult to deal with but this gives me an idea of a E06A01 kind of numbering system.

Has anyone received this and if so how how much more extensive are the liner notes compared to the original boxset? Thanks……

I discovered this podcast, The Soundtrack show, currently posting episodes focusing on the music of Star Trek TOS. I've listened to his first two episodes and I learned so much background history on Alexander Courage and company and the machinations behind how music was conceived, budgeted and produced for the series. And by a lovely coincidence, I'm also finding it a wonderful supplement owning and enjoying the first volume of La La Land Records' 1701 Collection. Since I never bought their complete box set, I plan to buy subsequent volumes of the 1701 Collection. Until I own them all, I look forward to listening to future TOS installments from this podcast.

Yes, I know that. It was more a joke, because of MV's statement at the beginning of this thread:
