Henry, I'll set your mind at ease to some extent, I'm not interested in The Back to the Future but am very interested in the Holdridge even though I don't have any of his scores as compared to many by Silvestri. I'm ordering the Holdridge based on what I heard in the clips so I'm getting it on the merit of those alone. I only can afford 2 CDs a month right now on my limited unemployment budget and the Holdridge will be one of the two.

Mark's first watermelon speech! big grin

(sorry, pal, I couldn't resist ribbing you about that) wink

Doh! I didn't mean it that way, but once labled a watermelon I guess, always a watermelon! wink

Just got word, Roger has been working on this glorious release for about 3 years, let's all raise our glasses to him, whether your drinking water, milk, christian beverages or tea, here here to Rog.

Wow 3 years!? That's a long time, kudos to him, Doug and the rest of the Intrada team for making this possible.

I really wanted to order the new BTTF set, but . . .

. . . upon careful consideration of the samples at Intrada, I'm sorry . . .

I'm afraid they're just too darn loud.

(Just kidding. I can still vividly remember sitting with my family in the Glenwood Manor in Overland Park, Kansas that summer afternoon in 1985, watching Doc dangling from the clocktower, thinking "I wish this movie would NEVER END!" Now, thanks to Intrada, it will be reborn and live again and again on my stereo, with a second disc of music I never dreamed existed. No "thank you" will suffice. I hope it becomes your best seller of all TIME! (get it?))

I predict this will be Intrada's biggest seller EVER. Christmas came early this year for many of us. I told a few of my non-film score fans about this tonight and they just didn't understand how much of a big deal this is. It truly is a holy grail for film score fans.

Man, what a year for 80s film scores. First Star Trek 2, then Back to the Future, and eventually Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Amazing... smile After all this, I wonder what 2010 will bring us.

Now all that's left for my personal 80's grail wishlist is Highlander and Goonies. smile

No disrespect to Lee Holdridge, but if I had the cash and I could only get either this or the Holdridge... well, I've been waiting for this for 23 years! (I saw the film in '86.) YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just pooped myself and you know what, it felt GOOOOD!!!

I'll pass on the Back to the Future disc, I already own the MCA disc so I'm quite happy with 11 minutes of score as opposed to 2 hours.
NOT, ok, I was trying to be someone else!! he he heee

Ohh I'm sure we'll see the real post coming up soon enough. razz

Indeed you do, and here's the real thing, although not quite as radical as drivingmissdaisy suggests.

I think it was just a matter of time before this fan favourite was released, given the current climate in soundtrack releases. So it's certainly one of those champagne-popping moments in our little clique. I'll gladly join in everyone's cheer.

I've always loved the score, too, but probably not as much as everyone else. It was a little too bombastic for me, a little too much of Silvestri's go-stop action music. However, the 11 minutes on the MCA disc are obviously not enough, so my ideal disc would have been maybe 35-40 minutes or so, carefully arranged for listening (as opposed to that atrocious bootleg). I'd pick up a $19.95 ltd. ed. in that format in a heartbeat. Or I could pay the dough for a 2CD set if the SONGS were available on the second disc as well, rather than alternates or unused stuff (which I have no use for). They are IMO just as an integral part of the soundtrack as the orchestral score.

In other words, I would have just wanted the MCA album, only with some 20-25 minutes more score!

As it currently is, though, and given the nature of the score, I'm afraid I'll have to pass. But the good news is: that means one more "holy grail" to someone else!! smile

I fold. lol

MV

No! Don't fold! I love you just as much as I love Intrada!

Please, NONE of you big players fold! With you guys, these fantastic releases seem like royal flushes over quad aces or aces full of kings! One may deliver the nuts, but the others always comes in close second... and the score changes all the time.

Keep on playing - and the fans keep watching in amazement.

Thanks for BACK TO THE FUTURE! Great stuff!

There used to be a standard, three-score answer when a label would announce hints to an upcoming release.

"Back to the Future! Alien! Spartacus!"

Remember when those were so ridiculous to mention that they became a joke? Well, ha ha, two down one to go. :-)
