Wow I just traced the customer who bought it too from the email address/MSN messenger name in "Jessie's" profile on ffshrine. Haha wow. First (and only) time customer. Details heading to Lukas.

On that other forum, Jessie writes:

"You can't post complete scores if they contain the music from the record label release. If you were to leave out the music contained on the soundtrack, then you could post it. But it wouldn't be a complete score then razz"

Ironic that the guy writing the rules is the one who posted the links to the pirated copy.

I bet you dollars to donuts that it was Jessie who removed all our posts.

This sucks, Lukas has my fullest support. This release is definitely the highlight of this year...

Ive seen those forums, and I have to wonder how in the heck Varese succeeds at scaring the heck out of them. If anyone posts ANYTHING from Varese, those links are gone and dead within like...5 min. So why is it such a problem for everyone else? I guess people just dont understand the concept of stealing....and prison...and bad food smile

......I wonder how many of them are members here? It's not unthinkable or impossible......

Curious that you say that, Timmer.

In looking at Sarah/Jessie's page on the download website, it appears she has 76 "friends".

On page 7, among the names in her "friends" list is the name of "sirusjr."

This MAY be our own "sirusjr", although there it is spelled with a capital "J" and here a small "j". "Our" sirusjr started on this board around March of this year.

Perhaps Lukas can contact "sirusjr" and find out if it is the same and find out more about "Sarah/Jessie" and just how good a friend she is.

Hmmmm.....

Or perhaps, "sirusjr" would like to post on this thread.

I wonder how sorry "Jessie" would be if he found himself/herself banned from all the limited soundtrack retailers.

Do let us know how this progresses.

Cheers

If anyone takes concrete action that results in that site going down and that woman or man suffering real life financial repercussions, I will buy 500 bucks worth of FSM cds from SAE to support Lukas and give half of them away to FSMers. Open, serious offer.

This sounds like our own warped version of CATFISH! And unlike that woman, this cuter culprit will definitely be learning the error of her ways. It's young Gen X punks like this (if that is "her" real picture) who seem to think nothing of internet bootlegging, until they get caught by the real world that never entered his / her mind at the time of uploading this. Hopefully this will make them think twice.

Brilliant.

Hope this is a lesson to others who would consider trying this in future. Best of luck Lukas & co.

It's shit like this which makes me want to buy the Ron Jones Box Set, and I don't even care for the music or Star Trek!!!!
I hope someone gets prosecuted for this!
It may be likely, now that culprits are being identified.
If this makes the 'leggers think twice, it can only be a good thing.

Not that I'm so deluded as to think that Ms. Nyberg would read this thread, but...

An open letter to Sarah Nyberg,

I would urge you to decline any further uploading of copyrighted material from your site members. The situation with FSM that you allowed to happen is going to change your circumstances for the worse. Your site may actually provide a useful service in some bizarre, adolescent-gamer sense, but I think you would agree that the dubious self-righteousness of music pirates is not worth losing it over.

Hope you find this suggestion enlightening.

Sincerely,
One of many.

Hello,

I am a member of the FFShrine and I support Lukas fully, frankly, and completely. I vote with my wallet and have so many FSM albums on my shelf that I will soon be needing a new shelf. I am there to discuss music. I occasionally download obscure things (out of print, expensive imports, etc) but ONLY EVER to convince myself that those items are worth a purchase. Yes, I know it's illegal and I know some people here will argue that there is no moral piracy, but for what it's worth I buy every note of music I listen to. Some people will think I am just trying to justify theft; I hope that the majority of people reading this - even though you are no doubt angry beyond comprehension (as I am) will see that whilst I'm not perfect my heart is in the right place.

I find the sharing of music from specialist labels absolutely dispicable. I had a similar reaction when the Superman box was shared - it turned up on the same day MY copy arrived in the post - and I despaired.

Though both cases are illegal, I see a massive difference between downloading a twenty year-old album (particularly one which is out of print and available only at auction for exhorbitant sums of money) and systematically ripping off brand new releases from small labels.

I am disgusted and upset that the Ron Jones box was shared. I am also sorry on behalf of those who partook. Please do not mark us all with the same brush. I spend so much money on such releases (particularly from FSM and Intrada; the Gods of film music) that I barely have enough money to eat.

For the pirates who think everything is free... I can suggest nothing. I wish it didn't happen; because I know only too well what a colossal effort - and a labour of love - it is for labels to put out such releases.

I can only say - and yes, this is selfish as well as selfless - please, don't stop. Great music is bigger than any of these idiots. I don't know how you can make them go away, but I do know that there are legions of fans who appreciate the work you do and who demonstrate that appreciation by putting their hands in their pockets and buying it.

Finally, please - no war against FFShrine. There are a great many good people there who do nothing but *talk* about how great your releases are, and *buy* them - who do not deserve to get caught up and swept away in the heat of the battle. It is a forum that features music piracy as only a tiny minority of its purpose. Trying to get it shut down will help nobody.

Getting these links taken down IMMEDIATELY will help - which I am working on as we speak.

Peace and good wishes,
R.A.

Dear Sarah,

You're kind of cute, but you're not very bright, are you?

If you've caused the end of FSM, we are so not exchanging holiday cards any more. I will not give you a ride to the video-game store so you can buy World of Warcraft XXXVVVIII or whatever the hell it is you waste hours and hours of your life on. I will not hold your hand as you weep at the ending of the latest Harry Potter book. I'm hitting delete on all that. Grow up, get a job, and buy a clue.

You've just pissed off Lukas Kendall, and I can tell you from personal experience that that's not a very good idea. I am chuckling out loud as I type the following: Good luck with that.

Illegal downloading is going to wreck the music labels I care about. Stealing is just not cool. People seem to float around in this weird double-standard bubble that makes downloading everything under the sun somehow OK. It's not.

You wants the music, you gots to pay for it. Otherwise there will be no music to buy. It'll be behind bars, waiting to be let free. Keep the torrents up and you're probably gonna know exactly how all that music feels.

Sincerely,
Jason

LOL, the problem is that these people don't see it as stealing. They call it sampling and they argue the labels deserve what they get. I support the labels because without them, us collectors would be missing out on a proper presentation of the music.

It amazes me that people have the glutinous attitude that they must have absolutely everything, all at once. There is always more out there to have and it’s just sick to try and grab everything at once, at any cost. Where is the satisfaction in it?

Off to register at FF shrine now smile

Mark
