". . .i never really noticed anything special about the UNDERSCORE." That's a fairly appalling admission from an "entertainment journalist." But, then, as I've said before, there's no accounting for personal taste . . . or lack thereof. Funny how you always have time for insults but never a single word of appreciation for anything i have done. Unless you consider the word "interesting" a compliment buh-bye, Mark Stevens i am sure you and the other Bruce will be very happy together

And BRM, I don't want to see any derogatory or suggestive comments about "the other Bruce" ever again. I'm really serious about that.

SAE has the Varese version for $199.95. Anybody interested? LOL!! Here's one at $29.95... or even less. http://cgi.ebay.com/GREAT-ESCAPE-Varese-Club-2CD-Soundtrack-Bernstein-/230573029253?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item35af393785#ht_500wt_1156 Should have sold that thing a year ago. Oh well...release Die Hard now, dammit! I want those clingers to cry in agony of lost fortune, too. Oddly enough, I sold mine on eBay last fall, with some regret, now it's BACK- probably for ALL time.... MARK MY WORDS- DIE HARD will be reissued again, too. I am holding out hope that it will get a re-release. Glad everyone has a chance to experience this great score...but that $19.95 is hard to swallow from that grand 200+ before.

I have the Varese 2cd set which sounds great too and also have the Rare OOP RSNO Bernstein Re-recording so I will pass this one. Great for the kids who missed it. Enjoy! Hold on to that RSNO copy for dear life! haha

Well, Intrada's Great Escape arrived today, what a package, the album tracks have never sounded as good, and the original score tracks are out of this world. The whole set is beautifully put together and is a real pleasure to listen to. I've been collecting/listening to The Great Escape for 40 odd (peculiar)years, I've bought the score on vinyl and cd, with dialogue and without, and originally with reversed channels, and nothing comes close to the sound on this set. Excellent package from Intrada, the only sad thing is that it's unlikely that I'm ever going to be able to hear The Magnificent Seven in such splendid sound. It just goes to show what's possible when people store tapes well and then people like Intrada remaster them perfectly.
