MV for this release, are you using the titles Mark Snow originally came up with when composing the cues, or new titles you created just for the set?

Here's a running tally of the tracks divulged so far:

DISC 1

Track 1: Main Title

Track 2: SCULLY TO DC/SCULLY MEETS MULDER 1:21 (Pilot - 1X01)

Track 20: THE RETURN 1:59 (One Breath – 2X08)

DISC 2

Track 4: GRAVES 2:55 (731 - 3X09)
Track 12 -- A PLACE IN HISTORY 6:04 (Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man - 4X07)

DISC 3

DISC 4

Track 18: LONE GUNMEN REQUIEM 8:13 (Jump the Shark – 9X15)
Track 19: THE TIP 2:33 (Release – 9X16)
...........................

So sounds like Disc 1 will span seasons 1 and 2, while Disc 2 will span seasons 3 and 4 (and maybe part of 5).

Is that right, MV?

To be honest with you, the best music created for the series was for Seasons 5 to 9. The storylines may have faltered in the latter half, but Mr Snow's music was top notch!

MV

Agreed. My favorite cues are from the latter seasons.

well, the show certainly depended more on the music in latter years
and Snow came through with flying colors!

I dont care how good the music is....
no episode w/o/ Duchovny should be included
"Hey, that's just how i feel"

This thread is going to be the reason I go home and throw some of those DVDs in my player tonight...

Honestly, I watched the series over again when La La Land asked for the suggestions (and I had seen the series complete not long before that), so I'm just going to wait for the boxset to rediscover the episodes through the music.

Today's reveals will be a little different. I have complied a list of tracks featured on this 4 disc set that were edited down for two reasons: CONTENT and LENGTH. Under Mr. Snow's direction 5 cues have edits to address creative/timing issues that he though he was important to the overall listening experience of the album. And we agree.

They are:

DISC 1

LITTLE GREEN MEN -- TRACK 16 -- Fish Food 3:15 (The original track was 6:02 in length... it now starts at 2:47)

DISC 3

EMILY -- TRACK 5 -- Little Box Of Sand 7:37 (The original track was 10:17 in length... it now starts at 2:40)

HOW THE GHOSTS STOLE CHRISTMAS -- TRACK 15 -- Piano on the Tack 1:28 (original length 2:15 -- now has edited out mid section)

ONE SON -- TRACK 21 -- Train Tune (The original track was 5:08 in length... it now starts at :21)

DISC 4

WITHOUT -- TRACK 13 -- Hide & Seek 2:03 (The original track was 6:27 in length... it now starts at 4:24)

Stray obervations:

-- so far, the only season from which a track hasn't been revealed is season 7.
-- I wonder how tracks from CD 3 will be devoted to the Post-Modern Prometheus (5X04)

Sounds great to me MV smile

How long ago did Mr. Snow edit these cues and you guys finalized the CD contents? Most of the delays were due to artwork approval and packaging issues right?

Artwork approval was not an issue... it was getting the 4 discs packed with the absolute best material as we could. This is Mr. Snow's baby... his STAR WARS if you will. He, more than any one else, has been wanting to get this out there from the get-go. He wanted to ensure that the best material and the best listening experience was created, but at the same time designing it in such a fashion that us geeks would enjoy as well. It took a lot of finessing... tracks got cut, whole episodes swapped out... thus the reason for the delay

Fantastic. While I would always have brought any discs with music from the show on I had always thought that the music would just have been presented as "OK, here's the music from this episode, now this episode, now this, etc". It's great to see that a lot of care has been put into creating the best experience for the listener, even if that means bits get dropped or cut. This is an audio experience and it's going to be an extremely enjoyable one I'm sure. I'm so pleased that Mark Snow has finally got this opportunity to get his music released, and that he still feels so strongly about it that he has been involved so much to get it perfect.

Damn, how much longer to go ?
