Mine arrived either Friday or Saturday, but I haven't even had time to take it out of shrinkwrap yet!
It was packaged PERFECTLY. Inside a large bubble-wrapped envelope was a small cardboard sleeve, plus two additional items wrapped in MORE bubble wrap!
The cardboard sleeve contained a signed copy of the X-Files jewel case cover. The first bubble wrapped item was the X-Files set in shrinkwrap. The second bubble-wrapped item was actually 2 things: the SOCOM 4 set in shrinkwrap and a signed copy of the entire booklet. Amazing!
well this set is pretty damn wonderful. no surprise there i guess. i've had it on pretty much all weekend. mostly just feels like coming home. i put it on and before i know it 4 hours have passed, though i do tend to get caught up on quest for swath and repeating the track a few times. i do find a few of the earlier tracks that did appear on the truth and the light cd tend to stick out to me as too familiar. i am glad to have them but until i get more used to the other stuff i tend to start at disc 2. so interesting things in there for sure. love the cue from "the end" and didn't realize so many of the x files movie themes are in there though done on synth and not an orchestra s they were later. i find that more interesting then something like one son which feels more tracked in than a different take on the same material. i always kind of wondered how "s.r. 819" got an emmy nomination since so much of that score is tracked from the movie. still it seems snow was probably score the end and the film in vaguely similar time frames and i dig the reference choice. some great surprises on here. would never have thought to include "the goldberg variation" and yet it's a stellar track. have to say i was confused that the zombie dance scene against the green screen was left out of "hollywood a.d." but then someone mentioned buena vista social club so mayb that actually wasn't original music. this set has been quite educational! and though i do know it's not mark snow music i do find some of the cuts on "how the ghosts stole christmas" to be a little jarring without the have yourself a merry little christmas snippets that connect them. i don't know, it was such a warm rendition. the one track from "piper maru" is great. when i requested tunguska/term in another threat saying i just remember those episodes having a distinctive scene this is the kind of track that would service them well. not sure if this is a suite from "piper maru" or from the episode but it hits all the beats i remember from that two parter and is wonderfully done. more thougths as i have them.
The one track from "Piper Maru" is from the episode. It isn't a suite. I wish Piper Maru could have been expanded a little more like One Breath or Anasazi.
Oh no! The last 30 seconds of the final track of my unblemished Disc 3 ("The X-Files End Credit (Extended #2)") skip badly and then cut off entirely before the track is actually finished. I've tried it on three different players, including a PC, and get the same glitches. You may all want to check yours, too; I'd hate to think there's a mastering error brought about by LLL running the music on this disc literally all the way to the edge of the plastic. I fired off an email to LLL this morning, falling on their mercy for a replacement of this single disc.
EDIT: Just got kind word from MV that a replacement is on the way...thank heavens!
It might be a bad batch or it might be the player. We have checked ones here and they play just fine. We have received 3 other emails regarding this error. I emailed the plant to check to see if its just a bad batch of cds. I'll keep you posted. Just check your cd in the mean time and let us know if there is something wrong with it. It's about 1:10 into track 22 on disc 3
I've played TWO COPIES I have here and the last track plays just fine.
I STRONGLY suspect the issue is that some CD players just don't like discs that go over 79 minutes and this one runs about 79:48 (which is right to the edge)..
This tends to be an issue with older players, but I've seen new computer players have the same issue...
So I would suggest try the CD in some other players and I suspect you'll find that most will play the last track just fine and a few won't like it.
Disc 2 and 4 are over 79 minutes and play just fine on my player. I also have other CDs including my solo Char-El discs that run over 79 minutes and play fine. I have a Sony (kept clean).

The disc in question is the LONGEST of all of the CDS and I suspect based on past experience that is the issue.
Have you tried playing this disc in other players yet?
My Sony is a standalone dual tray burner. I tried it in the playback side and it skips starting around 1 minute mark. The burner side played it thru almost to the end without skipping but right at the last few seconds started to skip. As I said..all the other discs play out fine. Others have experienced this. Given the price of the set this seems an unacceptable issue...I shouldn't have to run around trying different players. I suppose I could burn a copy of disc 3 on a CDR and try that.

Charles,
the CD is 79:48 and some players just don't like it..
You've already said that you have another player that the CD plays just fine in, right?
It's really sounds like a PLAYER ISSUE, not a disc issue as far as I can see.
