I hope with these sets, people will want to get the rest of the music and go for the FSM boxset. It really is a must have if you're a fan of the show and its music. I'm sure the la la sets will look nice alongside the FSM boxset smile

I agree that the FSM Ron Jones set is worth owning. Grant it is a lot to pay for but you basically get what you pay for.

When it was finally confirmed I was more than happy to plunk the cash down for the set. It was my birthday present to myself since it came out in September.

I think those who say the TNG music bland, need to rethink their stance and actually LISTEN to the music instead of going by what's heard in the episodes themselves. Hearing the music on its own is a lot better listening experience.

but TOS cues are great in the episodes or standalone. If it didn't grab me on the show why would it on it's own? Besides....didn't they WANT more bland scores as a rule?

I find that Ron Jones' TNG scores can be just as bold and memorable as music for TOS, I love 'em both, but there is bound to be some changes in TV scores from the late 60's up to the late 80's, it should not be expected to sound the same. True, TNG scores tended towards being more understated, but this was also how television itself has changed. When I'm in the mood for the TOS scores, nothing else compares, but when I'm in the mood for TNG music, I enjoy it as much just in a different way.

Wow. Basil, I would definitely look into owning at least one or two copies of Treks I, II, V, VI, First Contact, and the Giacchino reboot. In fact, to break it down:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - 10 copies
II: The Wrath Of Khan - 5 copies
V: The Final Frontier - 2 copies
VI: The Undiscovered Country - 3 copies
First Contact - 2 copies
Star Trek (2009) - 1 copy

I've heard Star Trek TMP and both editions of The Final Frontier (the original Sony CD and the La-La Land expanded release); I own FSM's Wrath of Khan, Varese's 2CD of Star Trek 2009 and First Contact, but those I haven't heard yet. What I meant was that I've never seen any episodes of any of the TV series in full - I've seen Nemesis and the 2009 reboot, but that's it as far as my movie experiences goes.

Wow - how many CDs do you own that you've not yet listened to? Got a lot of cash to burn on soundtracks? Wrath of Khan is amongst Horner's finest scores! Pull it out and give it a spin if you've got a moment, it's fantastic and FSM's release is fabulous!

You should also get FSM's Star Trek III CD too. The OST is okay but the complete score is awesome.

I would say he has a lot of CD's he hasn't listened to. I wish I had the kind of cash he does for how many CD's he gets. All though I could think of other useful things to buy if I had that kind of money. Things I would need...but anyways.

True, the FSM Trek III release is fabulous and the two releases pair very nicely together - I often listen to them back to back.

All I know is....Bruce has found a new enemy.

La-La-Land is crazy and tired-of-life to announce a new title.

They are going to ruin Kritzerland.

They should be in hell right now.

I will not order this out of pitifulness for Mr. K.

"Joking" or not (what a lame, sorry excuse), I only ever see you show up to comment if you have something negative to say or it means you have the opportunity to be a cynical, arrogant asshat.

That's what ignore lists are for, right?

Bye bye.

Ya think? Especially since I see no posts from me in THIS thread, even though they are trying to act as if I had done so. Ignore is fine. Having a life is fine. I'm fine. You're fine. Asshats are fine, at least in the world they inhabit. THIS thread is about Star Trek TNG and given the millions of Star Trek fans this is an announcement that will make them dance a jig and put in their yellow Data contacts. smile

Out of curiously, is that opening fanfare from The Child in there?

11. Rendezvous M11 / Liaison M12 (2:15)

M11 suggests it's the first cue of the episode. I know the opening fanfare is one of McCarthy's favorites. It's fair to assume that it is presented on the set. Any confirmation MV?

And give that Brent Spiner disc another spin.

I'm in!

And seriously, if you guys come to the NY Comic-Con, I'll volunteer to man the booth. smile

P.S. Yes, Voyager would be nice (as would the other series in the future).

P.P.S. I assume the scores for GEN, FC, and INS are still tied up with GNP Crescendo?

This is great news!

I guessed SO CLOSE as to what this release was going to be. I had even e-mailed La La Land about the possibility that this July would see Star Trek: The Motion Picture getting the deluxe treatment. MV didn't deny or confirm this, so I am hoping La La is working on it.

However, I will take TNG music any day. I am thrilled to finally be getting Fred Steiner's contribution and Don Davis. Too cool.

Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy and will buy. But.........

What would make more excited is tng music from the wounded. And most of all......all of the ds9 music especially from dominion wars. And okay voyager finale, time war episodes, and enterprise season 4.

Perhaps a suggestion for Volume 2.

It would be great to see each show get this kind of treatment for their respective fans. I will buy ANY release of Enterprise music.

I agree, Michael24. It seemed that they allowed a much broader, more full-bodied type of scoring on Enterprise. Tyler's score to Regeneration was bloody outstanding.

Pretty sure I'm buying this. The 98 replies to this thread says that 98 others are too.
