I was only 5 the first time I saw this, but I remember the music, especially "Into the Hole", like it was yesterday. This is the kind of soundtrack music that really makes an impression on a kid. Actually, alot of Barry's late 70's/ early 80's work did that to me. smile Oh, I almost forgot...ORDERED! (with BSG V.2)

I was so excited, I ordered two. Now thats passion people...I'm still shocked I did it. LOL!! As Ive said before in other threads floating about, ive wanted this score since I was a kid, and it was this score (among others) that sparked my interest in film music. I never thought back then while I was recording parts of the movie from the TV onto a tape recorder (so that I could listen to the music) that later on in life I would have the complete score. Now I can look at the original LP on the shelf and smile! Its great that Intrada used the original album artwork as the cover. I am so grateful. I wasnt born yet when this movie came out, but I saw it on the Disney Channel one day as a kid and I was hooked. I even had the Disney storybook. Anyway...not to bore anyone because I know this release has been lingering over our heads for a while, but...this is an exciting time.

Of course I'm excited about the music, but the booklet sounds like a doozie all by itself.

And I really like the "fashioned upon but nevertheless different" album cover art.

Cheers

Hmmm choices choices. Normally I'd snag this in a heartbeat. Did I mention in any of the multiple threads that I have the laserdisc? Or that I was probably working in QC at Technicolor when we duped the VHS and Beta versions? I love this movie. Oh I saw it when it hit the theaters in its first run...I was not a kid. However, I have located a cd on my missed it gotta get it list and that may take priority. BSG vol 2 is a definite tonight. 1500 copies won't last long .

By the way, I'm liking the mix as I hear it in the samples. It seems much brighter, more detailed and more alive than the album sounded -- but without losing that gravitas.

Cheers

Elmer's Story on Page One was the must buy OOP on the Intrada site. I had missed it when it was first released. Now a copy will be winging its way to me. The Black Hole will wait until next week. smile

FINALLY ! Outstanding job Intrada and thanks Disney. Great year for John Barry fans.

With hindsight you may wish to amend your words ... frown

Like others, I am very pleased that this score is now available; I'm also bemused by the fact that, as with Messrs. Goldsmith and Bernstein ... and others, no doubt, previously unavailable scores have become available following the passing of their authors.

Perhaps co-incidence?

Wait ...wait....Is it The Black Hole?

Sorry, Steve J, Alex, everyone, just had to do it for the very last time.

It needed saying.

I feel a huge sense of...well....a lifting off my shoulders, my life has been leading up to this moment and now we're here, well, I'm going to savour it.

Now, you lot know the rules, no discussing the music when it arrives.

Not really a surprise but a very welcome release. I very much look forward to receiving my copy (fingers crossed for 2 weeks to the UK) and ditching my boot.

Right, that's enough talk about Black Hole, let's all move on.

Now Intrada, where's Young Sherlock Holmes ? wink

Seriously though, fantastic work Intrada & Disney. Thank you so much.

I'm curious- was Barry aware of or involved with the release? I imagine this has been in the works for a long time.

I'm so happy, I was just listening to the LP today to join in the spirit, as I will have to pick this up a little later. Need to set aside funds for potential limited edition releases! smile

At the same time, I played a few tracks from Howard the Duck. A *very* different film with an equally beautiful score. Hope this one day sees it's own CD release.

Michael

PS. I'm very interested to read the liner notes. All that technical stuff excites me! And I must know how the confusion came about that Marlene mentions above. Like her, I never believed it either.

Absolutely ORDERED!!!!! Wow I never thought this day would come - MANY many thanks to Intrada for this Holy Grail of soundtrack releases. 32 Track digital mix too - I bet it'll sound stunning! At last I can retire my oft-played LP.

Just hope there's some Battlestar Galactica Vol.2 CDs left in a months time as I'm going to have to wait on that one (I know Black Hole is unlimited... but I just wants it nowwwww preciousssss!).

- John

The Black Hole was a unique assignment for Barry

Unique? Star Crash, Howard the Duck, Moonraker ...
