There is some material in stereo--I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed by the sound of this set though. For instance, if you recall the sound of the GNP release of The Cage and Where No Man Has Gone Before, it's pretty shrill and in fact I found myself rarely going back to listen to that stuff and having sort of a dim view of the music over the years because of that. Now that stuff almost sounds audiophile quality to me, and it's really made me completely reappraise Alexander Courage's music. The Enterprise Incident is another score I never really liked, and now I love it. Also Mullendore's Conscience of the King, which I always found too far outside the style of the rest of the series music, stands out as a real achievement and an absolutely fascinating score. And those are the scores I was NOT all that into previously...to not only get new appreciation for those, but to hear the scores I've always loved for years--Who Mourns For Adonais?, Friday's Child, Metamorphosis, Return to Tomorrow—finally in great sound has been revelatory.

Don't sweat it--they will make enough for everyone who wants this set to get it.

The label X rerecordings are just that--rerecordings and thus not part of the recorded music for TOS. The only rerecording included on the set is the new recording of the TOS main title done for the Trek Remastered series. If you enjoy the Label X interpretations (as well as the Fred Steiner rerecordings done for Varese), hold onto them as they are often quite different (listening to the original Spectre of the Gun, for example, you really notice how close it is to The Wild Bunch--the tempi are vastly different on the rerecording and the score is really played much more slowly than it is in the episode).

Aside from the actual music, the video that LaLaLand had put together for this announcement was great. Loved the cutaways to the STAR TREK memorabilia. Well done.

My memory of the CD (I haven't played it in years) is that the music sounded like it was pitched up from what it actually was. It'd certainly be great to hear it in the "right" key at long last.

I have all the GNP albums, as well as the Varese and Label X re-recordings, but I'm definitely going to be buying this on Day 1. ~$200 is a very reasonable price, IMO, for the complete three seasons worth of music, and then some. This beauty will go right next to the Ron Jones set. I'm not sure how LLL, or any other label, will ever manage to top this in the future. It's comforting to know there's a label out there like LLL that sees the value of such a product and caters to a niche within a niche.

I also tried signing up for the mailing list, but have yet to receive the confirmation e-mail. I use Yahoo! Mail... checked my junk folder too; no luck yet.

wouldnt you say it was worth a man's soul?

LOL!

Jeff, I recall reading about one of the DVD or Blu-ray reissues of the original series having some strange music problems. Were the tapes used for this project not made available to the CBS crew working on those reissues?

I wasn't there when the remastered DVDs were put together but my understanding is that the original music elements would not have been accessible when those were made. But don't quote me on that. I suspect that's the reason they had to switch a few things there.

Seeing the style of announcement, with signing up for updates/response evaluation etc, I'd expect the next step might be an offer of a saving opportunity for early buyers. In other words, commit to purchase well ahead of time and save some dollars. I'd be ok with that.

Regarding the confirmation e-mail. Got mine right away. You all should check your spam filter.

I'd think it would've gone to my junk folder, but nothing there either. I'm on Hotmail, anyone else using Hotmail get theirs?

Not only no, but HELL NO.

No response email to my hotmail account either.

I'll be getting this set. I have the HD episodes. Season One on HD DVd and seasons 2 and 3 on Blu ray.

Well, with this set my truly last "Holy Grail" is there ( after waiting for it nearly 30 years)!

I remember the many discussions here on board, that a complet set would be not possible because GNP holds the rights on several Episodes they released before and that such set would`nt sell well, and so on.

So its great to see that those people finaly managed to cooperate together to make this wounderfull set possible!

A special Thanks to Neal Norman (the "Pionier" of releaseing the ST original tracks, nearly 30 years ago), who indeed was willing to cooperate.

By the way (and as Jeff Bond mentioned here before):
Hold your Label X and Varese re-recordings, they defenetly are a nice addition to the original-recordings, because they all sounds little bid different.
Specially the Label x Volumes are more like concert-suits, with different tempo and arrangment and are allways a nice listening experience!
I remember exactly, that I was a little bid dissapointed, as the two Volumes were released (ive get the LP`s in the 80`s), because they arent sounding like the music i actually heard in the TV-episodes.
But since a few years I can really enjoy them BECAUSE they are so different than the original recordings.

Anyway, THANKS again for bring us this box.

IT MAKES ME REALLY HAPPY
(and Iam shure, many many old-hearted ST + OST - Fans too).
