Dear MV,

would "Kung Fu" (1972–1975) by Jim Helms a possibility?
To me it's one of the most fascinating and wonderful TV-scores ever created.
Fun Fact: The German Intro used a nice edit of Carl Douglas famous "Kung fu fighting" song, which IMHO fitted perfectly. Took me some years to realize that Carl Douglas had not been using music from the TV-Show for his song .... wink

And here are two comments by Lukas Kendall on this matter:

...
The Kung Fu music-and-dialogue album was something we could license from Warner Bros. Records. I would love to do an extensive score-only album of the original TV recordings but that would have to be licensed separately from Warner Bros. Pictures. They are separate projects and just because we have done one doesn't mean we might not do the other later...but don't read anything into that comment because it's not in the works AT ALL. Sorry.

As for the music-and-dialogue album, this was a concept album that the composer himself produced...many people had it on vinyl and were very fond of it...and incidentally we did not find any masters that were not already mixed with the dialogue. So it's not like we had any kind of ability to take the dialogue out via remastering or any other such process.
...

...
Like Hawaii Five-0, Kung Fu is a reissue of an LP from back in the day—which was all the rights we could get. If any enterprising label wants to do a collection of the original Jim Helms soundtracks, the stereo masters are available at Warner Bros. (as opposed to Warner Bros. Records).

I have more question than normal for this post.

MV, what are the realistic chances of these scores (all personal favorites of mine) getting released?

"Darker Than Amber" (John Parker)
Tapes are listed in the CBS collection at UCLA, so I guess they might have the rights or partial rights.

"When Eight Bells Toll" (Angela Morley)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63vAZN4AlZI

According to the IMDb page for the film:
•Gershwin-Kastner Productions (as A Jerry Gershwin-Elliott Kastner Picture) (co-production)
•Winkast Film Productions (as Winkast Film Productions Ltd.) (co-production)

And any update on the rejected scores? Last I asked, you said two were coming (has that changed?): one full and one partial.

Actually three questions/suggestions...

It is apparently 10th Anniversary of STARDUST around these days... any chance it might be given LLL treatment? There is a TON of great material missing on the initial album... and considering how popular score it is, it might be worth doing...

----------------------

And then... something brand new... should be fine movie and a terrific score... Any interest from LLL?

----------------------

And finally... you've recently mentioned interest in doing CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS... any chance it may actually happen or the studio wasn't interested or all of it got way too complicated with two other releases/labels already involved?

While I like Stardust both film and score there are no plans at this time.

Snowman will probably be a Backlot release

No news on Captain Underpants. Probably not going to be a cd release for the time being.

As for Amber, interesting suggestion. 8 Bells is a a holy grail for some. Would love to release it some day

Dear MV & La-La Land Records!

Is there any chance for Jan Hammer's MIAMI VICE complete/expanded release, with more music than was available on long OOP 2-disc One Way Records relase?

Not sure if this has already been asked in this thread (probably has...and by me!!).
I know BUFFY is coming soon and that's GREAT news.
Do you know of any plans to release the superb music from another fantasy TV series...
BEAUTY & THE BEAST (Lee Holdridge, Don Davis, William Ross)?

I'll second that request. Would of course want all the outsourced music not composed by Greyson-Williams. The complete score is indeed quite an accomplishment.

I was going by this quote from your last year when I asked if any rejected scores were coming and you replied:

Mar 16, 2016 - 4:00 PM
La La Land Records:

Yes, one legendary one and possibly two "partial" ones

MV

I forgot to link to samples of "Darker than Amber":

I ripped this fro ma load that -- at the time I didn't know -- was missing the opening of the main title:

Now that Wild, Wild West (which is fast rising to my number one favorite this year) seems to be a success, is there any chance for a similar length Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea set?

In any case, between WWW, the Great Race, Waterworld... etc, I'll be on a cloud form quite some time. smile Please feel free to continue the fantastic work.

With such TV series released as "Wild Wild West", "Mission Impossible", "Lost In Space", "Wonder Woman" - a whole heap of "Star Trek" - and even such animated series like He Man & the Masters of the Universe, (and the "Batman" / "Superman" animated series)...

Is there any chance to get "DALLAS" (?)

This is probably the longest running TV series of all time, and I know it would be a great seller - if someone like La La Land Records was to do it... I realise that some of my other Holy Grail's are sitting on the fence, but "WHAT ABOUT DALLAS?" Look at the list of "A" list composers involved? PLEASE?

I would like to see a CD release. There has never been any music released (only the main title). Is there any chance? I would obviously like the ultimate box-set... but even - if only one CD was released - at least it is a start?

Please?
