R.I.P. Allan Asherman——I read The Star Trek Compendium so much, the binding fell apart!

AHSOKA teaches us the sad distinction between real writing and comic book writing. Real writing is interested in the human condition. Comic book writing is interested in the backstory of somebody’s costume.

Yeah, Sabine is badly acted, agreed, she does not emote at all.
The look is fine, but the role is beyond her skill level.

It is not a bad season, very limited, Thrawn does not really have that much to do, good actor though.
I think this is a setup for a film of some kind.

Dave Filoni is better with his animated work for sure

Absolutely and sadly seconded.
His books are still among my favorite things to re-read over and over again.
Oh, to have hardcover editions....

This makes me sad. Allan Asherman was a name to me, not just for The Star Trek Compendium, but also for his contributions to Starlog and The Star Trek Giant Poster Book. He has always been part of the fandom environment, and I hate to see him gone.

His long, substantive 1977 article "The Music of Star Trek" (Poster Book No. 9) arrived like a bolt out of the blue, at a time when I didn't know anyone else even cared about that. It was a really big deal in a world with no Internet. It wasn't just informative, it was validating. And I think it was the first item ever published on the subject, if you don't count the possibility of a photocopied fanzine somewhere with eleven subscribers.

Erm…. the dialogue is…..erm……. well, if you were aiming for a ‘78 Battlestar Galactica vibe you’ve nailed it but otherwise…. erm…. “could use a polish” is probably the best way of phrasing it.

Don’t worry, no matter how much you love it—they’ll ruin it.

What's a great line!

Lukas asked not to write back to him, unless there was a problem with the Brent Armstrong CD sale. So I thought I’d post here to say what a great job he has done with this sale.

Firstly, there were some surprise and delight aspects to my parcel (spoilers ahead). One CD wasn’t used, but factory sealed in mint condition. One CD was unexpectedly signed by the composer (a Hollywood legend) and another had an extra CDR that Brent himself had added.

Most of all though, I have six marvellous scores that I’ve now played and enjoyed many times already. Thank you Lukas.

I too want to thank Lukas for my CDs. They arrived safely without damage. I was lucky enough to buy TRUE CONFESSIONS by Delerue and the super rare UNDER THE VOLCANO by Alex North. CONFESSIONS was sealed and only $25. And though VOLCANO is only 20 minutes, it's far better than a lot of the scores coming out today. Again, just $25.
Question for you Lukas. Was that a typo in your SUPERMAN article where you listed your age as 49? That would have made you 4 years old when the movie came out. By the way, I was 13.

I was born in 1974, yes. I first saw Superman on TV in the early 1980s.

Glad you got the CDs and thanks for your nice words!

Lukas found a new career reselling used CD’s. wink
BTW, I received my order too but no unexpected “bonus”.
Just what I ordered.
