Sorry, I hadn't allowed for you classifying the Borodin piece as a pop song. Mitch Technically, it's opera, but you probably already knew that...

I am a Barry fanatic, have all what has been released and some more too. But after listening to Peggy Sue for some weeks now, I must conclude that this is not a top Barry score. In fact I find it quite boring, and what I call Barry on autopilot. All composers are on auto on at least a quople ques in every score - Barry too. But usually there are some spine-tingling highs. But I cannot find any highs with this one. The short fanfare at the end, maybe. I like the slow Barry scores of the late 70s and onwards, so it`s not that. It just not that good! CouldnĀ“t disagree more - but to each his own.

I think it is one of John Barry's most underrated scores.......absolutely beautiful ! Totally agree! Wanted this for years and worth the wait. An excellent Barry classic! Couldn't agree more with you two! One of my favorites by him. That cue Peggy Sue Visits Grandparents is what makes me weep!

Couldn't agree more with you two! One of my favorites by him. That cue Peggy Sue Visits Grandparents is what makes me weep! Yes! And the score made me revisit the film again after many, many years - and it holds up so well. Barry scored it so wonderfully, it is like an additional director giving everything that is needed to take the film to the next level.

I'm glad so many people like this score. I would too only it sound almost exactly like several of his previous scores. Name one.

After years of lurking here and elsewhere I have to break my silence to praise this release. As a long-standing Barry fan who's been buying his soundtracks since the mid-70's and any other non-released little obscurity I could get (I was also there when the John Barry Appreciation Society started and was there outside the Albert Hall in 98 waiting to get the great man's autograph and clapping him off into the distance as he was driven off - great times) this release has reminded me of those exciting times when I'd impatiently await the arrival of a new release, and then, with very few exceptions, play endlessly when it arrived. Peggy is top drawer melodic Barry with tons of beauty, emotion and haunting atmosphere. What's more, it really does get better with each listening - drawing you in deeper each time. Hopes are now for The Cotton Club. Come on, make it happen... No more lurking, post more!!!! Glad you are in love with this release like me and so many others. Still can't believe we finally have it and with incredible sound!

By an odd coincidence, I was listening to this score on Monday, along with Indecent Proposal. It is really a wonderful score, I found myself humming/whistling the main theme to myself all day.
