It's like complaining if I wrote this every day: Gffjkeoogugnejbg qwernvowbwrn,,, wwerwehabasd-werhber+)asdna. After all, words are just re-arranged letters.

I'll never understand why people complain about electronics to this day. Music is just arranged noise. Why does altering the palette electronically rub so many people the wrong way? God forbid you create sounds that come from your imagination rather than an acoustic instrument! They complain because they are stuck in the 1940s!

Ah, yes it does. It matter how you arrange the instruments, it matters the beat, the tempo, etc. Just with electronic music it matters how it is nuanced, how it is arranged, what special touches are put on it and that it's not just a series of random sounds with no detectable sense. How many CD's/LP's/whatever of random crashes, random bangs, random sounds, etc., do any of us own?

I'll never understand why people complain about electronics to this day. Music is just arranged noise. Why does altering the palette electronically rub so many people the wrong way? God forbid you create sounds that come from your imagination rather than an acoustic instrument! When Goldsmith uses electronic drums in "The Victor" from L.A. Confidential, I can get behind complaints for that - it just sounds so wrong, given the era. But the electronics are really good in Mulan! Because electronics are a modern synth soundscape. Its a rather sterile futuristic sound that don't fit well with period genre's. Replace the music in Mulan with Disco beats, would that work? Yeah. CHARIOTS OF FIRE was ' ruined' by synths. CHARIOTS OF FIRE was ' ruined' by synths. Yes! It would have been so much better with a little Elgarian ' Pomp and Circumstance'!

Any news on this score? Coming, according to Film Music Reporter, 25th March. But, also, Amazon France set his release 27th March, at least, the CD

CHARIOTS OF FIRE was ' ruined' by synths. Yes! Disagree. It was saved by a man who may have used synths, but is a first-rate composer and dramatist and was the right voice to really ignite the drama. Without Vangelis, Chariots of Fire would feel like a mundane, costive period piece.
