What the hell, until 10 PST it's all pissing in the wind. And I'm sure I will be in for what ever is released. Did you not see the post two above yours? If this isn't real it is a cruel, cruel hoax. MURDER BY DEATH!!!!!!!!! One of my holy grails I had completely stopped hoping for, because we'd heard over and over than tapes didn't survive for this score (as they don't for so many vintage Sony/Columbia films). This is seriously the most amazing surprise of the year, and it makes me more stupidly happy than even Peter Proud or The Prisoner of Azkaban. Yavar

It's not that MBD was missing, it's that not all of it was accounted for. As I wrote on my currently defunct Rejected Film Scores website on the Lost Scores page: Only a portion of the score can be found. La La Land Records was asked about the possibility of a release on their Facebook page and they replied back on November 22 (presumably 2015): Stephane Lerouge, the head Universal Jazz soundtracks in France in the collection "ecoutez le cinema", gave a long and very interesting interview for the french website UNDERSCORES (thanks Starfe wink ) in order to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their 1st release. Among many things, he talks about MOONRAKER. This is what he says : "Dream of ours as well, but sadly only a portion of the score has survived. Perhaps one day."
Another Grusin score is reported as missing (I don't recall further details): "Fuzz" (I think it was Roger over at Intrada, who reported this)

I've wanted Murder by Death for 42 years. This is a very cool release. (Hope someone can someday release some of those atypical early Grusin scores like Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here and Shoot Out).

Yavar, the post two above mine evidently came in while I was composing my missive. In any case, I'm extremely happy to finally get ABSENCE OF MALICE. I've never quite shared everyone else's enthusiasm for AND JUSTICE FOR ALL and MURDER BY DEATH but I'm sure they'll grow on me. Most Grusin does. I second Scott Bettencourt's notion that WILLIE BOY and SHOOTOUT should get releases.

Oh man, anyone who hasn't yet seen Murder by Death is in for a treat. It was totally the blueprint for Clue the following decade (I really like Clue but Murder by Death is even better), and Grusin's score is an absolute delight. Yavar
