My uncle enjoyed it, especially Cannon, which isn't surprising,Cannon was very popular in the UK. Looks.more like CHARLIE CHAN than CANNON!

Cannon so-so? Pfft! Perish the thought! Why Cannon was the swiftest, smartest, gravity challenged P.I. of the seventies. That guy could move! The only thing worse than 70s cop shows ( COLUMBO was a mystery, not a cop show) are 70s P.I. shows. . The story format of COLUMBO disclosed to viewers who kills whom in the beginning of the program. So I wouldn't classify such as a murder mystery. But - yeah - this show was not the usual cop stuff.

I'm leaving Quim cos predictive text is fuckin brilliant. I thought you were just being a fanny. Whatever, these sets of discs shall now be referred to as Queen Martin or Quim Martin, but never by that ridiculous name "Quinn". Still awaiting the Quim Invaders. ..and BLACK ADDER will be known as " Black Water".

My uncle enjoyed it, especially Cannon, which isn't surprising,Cannon was very popular in the UK. Looks.more like CHARLIE CHAN than CANNON! The artwork did vary on those TV Action comics, though the Doctor Who strips are rather cherished.. Anyway my own portrait of Cannon got me a good mark from my art teacher at school at the tender age of fifteen, so that would be around '76. I did three pencil drawings, my Clint Eastwood (from FAFDM) was better, but my Mr Spock was spot on. Anyway, this talk of Cannon reminded me of this UK pop chart single by impressionist Billy Howard - King of the Cops - which I have myself from back in the day:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02piPuAZBmU. He does Cannon about half way through "I've just been fired" he says! We were easily amused in the 70s! But yep, Cannon was very popular in the UK as were many of those Quinn Martin Productions. I remember many of them including the first ep of Barnaby Jones with the Cannon guest spot. But these two and Dan August are all I know in the LLL set, so even if I did have money to burn, I'm afraid I'd be put off by the others. And I'm sure Dan August didn't get broadcast until well after it was made. All three were part of my nerdy off air recorded audio cassette collection of tv themes though together with SOOO many others.... I always included both opening and closing titles of course.

On to Disc 2 for the second time. Lalo's MOST WANTED didn't strike me as being great the first time. Last night I listened to it on headphones (close scrutiny), and although it was "better", I was almost falling asleep by the end. Possibly due to the time of night. Then this morning, fresh as a daisy, I put it on for a third time, loud on the big sound system. I'd done one of my mental (yes, really mental) games again, and imagined it as a 30-min LP. Side A was pretty good (Tracks 1-8). Side B starts off great with that exciting track "Skyjacking". It really made my doing the household chores pretty butch and meaningful (quickly making the bed as if I was cleaning the scene of the crime). So yeah, a few great tracks, several good ones with the double bass figure "doing the Lalo suspense octave", but even at half an hour it outstays its welcome. Overall, fairly routine, and it gets a bit bogged down in treading water. Disappointingly low on kerosine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above was me, many years ago when this CD first came out. I thought it pertinent to regurgitate myself now, seeing as we're back to talking about how kind of dreary the Lalo is compared to the rest. I still find some of CANNON more "annoying", but it's more fun than the Lalo. I still "like" the Lalo when I put my head into that funny shape I mentioned earlier, but it'll never be "great". I had even more trouble with Lalo's EARTH II on FSM's generally wonderful TV Omnibus. Stressfully dull, and Schifrin's one of my favourite composers.

The Quinn Martin Collection Vol. 4: 12 O’Clock High Does that show have enough of a following to make it worthwhile for Disney? Remember, 20th Century Fox owns it(it was a co-production). Great-news, just found out vol-3 does anyone know what sorta titles, I was looking at a fee for Universal, Quincy, Kill Dozer, Street Hawk - Kojak, Frankenstein The True Story, Murder She Wrote, Night Gallery, I'd love these titles out-there, just curious has vol-4 been confirmed I'm a little behind but fab news Quinn got this far.

Volume 4 hasn't yet been confirmed, but The Quinn Martin Collection Vol. 5 will actually be The Aaron Spelling Collection Vol. 1. You can bet your bippy that Vol. 6 is going to be LAUGH-IN by Dan Rowan & Quinn Martin.
