Wow, this thread is again taken over by people blaming these films and society for evolving. Also, reading those remarks, they have no idea how films are made. "They storyboard, film it and put it together - that's it!" Yeah, right...

Wow, this thread is again taken over by people blaming these films and society for evolving. Also, reading those remarks, they have no idea how films are made. "They storyboard, film it and put it together - that's it!" Yeah, right... With you all the way. The movie is still more than two months away but the negativity has already started on this board...which has become a habit by some of the posters here. Very much looking forward to it and yes, loved 'The last Jedi'.

Back to the music ... Even with all the last minute editing/changes/fiddling/and other post-production finishing that goes on, I'm still wondering why an album release has not yet been announced. They usually are by now, because the film's release date is still the release date.

WillGoldNewtonBarryGrusin:. Wow, this thread is again taken over by people blaming these films and society for evolving. Also, reading those remarks, they have no idea how films are made. "They storyboard, film it and put it together - that's it!" Yeah, right... I don’t think anyone is mistaking Disney’s current trilogy with being in the same league as the original Star Wars (1977). Even The Empire Strikes Back was a bit of a step down, excluding the score. No, the beef that a particular kind of thread commentator has with this current series of “Star Wars Lite” movies is entirely unrelated to the quality of the movies themselves; it has everything to do with the particular consumer sensibility the new trilogy is being marketed towards. To be blunt, they put a girl at the focus of this trilogy and that is really rubbing some self-appointed guardians of chauvinist sensibilities the wrong way.

solium:. And to put it blunt, that's the false narrative you all been dishing out from the very beginning...But then again you all got your agenda to push. Well if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle black (In other words: blatant, astounding hypocrisy.)

Right, so back to the music ... I'd like to imagine that there's a super special and very exciting reason that a soundtrack has not yet been announced. I've heard the "wary of over-saturating the market" theory, and it is plausible, but the dream I'm entertaining is a really neat one. Anyone else have any thoughts as to why -- so far -- they've not announced a release for John Williams' final Star Wars score ...?

Yeah, because all Star Wars fans hated Leia because she was a woman right? Nope, fans loved Leia ( In original trilogy) because she was smart, well written ( for the most part ) had great chemistry with Han,kicke ass...and looked smoking hot in that metal bikini. Fans hate characters like Rey because shes badly written and a total Mary Sue ( Though Daisy Ridley is a good actress ). Regarding the music,i would imagine that no album has been announced because due to the fact that they are scrambling to finish this movie on time there just hasnt been time for it.Spoilers are not an issue because they clearly learned their lesson long ago due to THAT spoiler being on the back of the Phantom Menace cd.

GOLDSMITHDAKING: Yeah, because all Star Wars fans hated Leia because she was a woman right? "Rubbing some self-appointed guardians of chauvinist sensibilities the wrong way" is not "...all Star Wars fans hated Leia because she was a woman." unless you assume (like lots of other morally retarded fanboys) that every male Star Wars fan is a misogynist. Don't be dense. Some right wing trolls don't like the new trilogy. Neither do I. But for reasons that have nothing to do with the concerns of morally retarded fanboys. And by the way, GOLDSMITHDAKING, your GIF of Salma Hayek's tits doesn't inspire much confidence that you have any perspicacity about women's roles in film, or women altogether, for that matter.

Well, this fan and others I know did like Rey and didn't think her part was poorly written. She may be a Mary Sue to some, but not to everyone. It is all personal opinion. https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2017/12/21/no-rey-from-star-wars-the-last-jedi-is-still-not-a-mary-sue/#7c2d3b4e4500 Thanks Joan. Great article. I like Rey a lot as well, and enjoy her character quite a bit. I also don't think that she was poorly written or a Mary Sue. As for the soundtrack announcement, it is ridiculous to think that it hasn't been announced because of problems in production. We live in a different world now, and it is rare that soundtracks, particularly from Disney, are announced more than two months before a movie is released. We haven't even gotten an announcement for a Maleficent 2 soundtrack and it comes out next week! Admittedly Disney likely has higher expectations for Star Wars than they do Maleficent, but the Avengers: Endgame soundtrack wasn't announced until shortly before its release, and Disney clearly had high expectations for that film. Plus, soundtracks are made available for pre-order all the time with little or no information available. Some 1 disc sets ultimately become 2 disc sets, like Godzilla: King of Monsters, and It: Chapter 2. I want the soundtrack as much as anyone, but early pre-orders just aren't the norm anymore.
