If any composer (for film or otherwise) is to be remembered and have his/her work performed well into the next few centuries, then it is definitely Mr. M. This news nearly took the breath out of me when I read it this morning. Because it was Morricone's music that dictated that I would forever be passionate about film scores. And it started with my parents taking me to the Drive-In to see the Dollar films. Thereafter, my first few LPs were the Montenegro versions of those themes. I played them endlessly. Alongside the Bond films, I don't think I've ever had such an immediate reaction to a film score at a young age. Forget The Beatles, I had Morricone and John Barry. So we are all taking a day, or all week, to remember his great legacy. And to be thankful that we have been alive during his long reign. Other members have been so eloquent in their love for Morricone and his music. I can't get close to their wonderful comments. But......... Can anyone imagine a world in which Morricone had not existed? He has left us all much richer in spirit and love. I'd like to quote filmmaker Edgar Wright, who today wrote: "He could make an average movie into a must see, a good movie into art, and a great movie into legend."

In this article from the website La Repubblica, the very last piece written by the Maestro is mentioned: "La scomparsa di Ennio Morricone ci priva di un artista insigne e geniale. This 4' piece for orchestra, choir and children voice is called Tante pietre a ricordare and is dedicated to the victims of the bridge that collapsed in Italy. It's said to be very moving. Let's hope for a recording.

I have some excellent 2017 California Cabernets I should break into today. I think I will pair them with the Mondo Morricone trilogy. We have the whole week off...should be able to get through *most* of our scores!

Hey Tall Guy, where can we find the complete interview??? Thanks, Zeno I’d say perfect, Thor! No messing around or flowery sentiment, simple and exactly the way it is. And I thought my esteem for him couldn’t rise any further. To wit, Donald Fagen interviewing Morricone for PREMIERE magazine in 1989: Fantastic!

Haha, I love both a lot, Donald Fagen and Ennio Morricone. Both aren't the easiest guys around...;-) (But what can someone do against loving something...) Hey Tall Guy, where can we find the complete interview??? Thanks, Zeno http://sdarchive.com/premiere2.html God, he is trolling the ever loving shit out of Fagen here and it's incredible.

A full Mission to Mars expansion/remaster would be the finest way for Intrada to commemorate this legend of film scoring.

Thanks, Tall Guy, my god: I love Morricone. For me he's one of the 3 best filmmusic composers of all time (all 3 are dead now...and the fourth as well...;-). An incredible loss! From the first time on I saw C'era una volta...I loved him. And he was the only one, that was able to make me cry half of a film in cinema, nevertheless I saw the movie for the third time (Cinema Paradiso!!!). What a giant!
