Thanks, Thierry, for the correction. I have left my order open in the "address bottleneck stage" and have sent an email to the publisher for advice: edidos@Kaneediciones.com">pedidos@Kaneediciones.com I asked them, if they could, to just take control of my order and process it. If that's not possible, I asked for information how to fix it myself. Due to the time difference between New Jersey and Spain and the language difference, it will be a while before they get around to it. I once had to call the Spanish Postal Service about a delayed shipment. It involved calling during Spanish business hours that overlapped (+6 hours difference) with East Coast business hours. My Medical Assistant was born in the Dominican Republic, so she handled the Spanish dialogue. It took quite a bit of pre-arranging, but we got the issue managed. I may have to call on her in my retirement to do this again. I will update my progress (or lack of it) as any progress develops. I always thought a good many Europeans take August off for vacation (or do you call it holiday?), so I wasn't expecting too prompt a response. We'll see. Ron Burbella

On July 1 I addressed an e-mail to info@kaneediciones.com to inform them that I had not been able to order this book successfully from their website, and I asked for help. Their July 5 reply suggested this link: https://kaneediciones.com/producto/jerry-goldsmith-a-musical-chameleon/ The same day I thanked them, because the second link worked for me. By July 18 I was notified that my copy had shipped on the 15th; delivery to me in the USA was August 6th. May that link and my own timeline be helpful for reference to anyone else By the way, I was pleased to read Peter Greenhill's mention that his own copy seemed to be packaged better than other descriptions he had read about. When I confirmed delivery for the publisher, I did also make that recommendation to them.

My book finally arrived today from Fed Ex. There is a small tear in the upper left corner of the cover near the binding but it's small and frankly, I'm just glad it arrived. I had a quick look through and I'm impressed with the book's quality. Glossy pages, lovely photos and a relaxed binding that makes it easy to read. Had a quick glance at some chapters. Seems good but the English version is definitely a little rough in places due to the translation. Glad to have this in my collection, however.

Congratulations on a happy conclusion to your ordeal, David! Thanks Steven. It was an annoying situation but far far far from the worst thing that’s happened to me in my 50+ years. I see other forum members’ books are also arriving so, aside from a gaffe in shipping overseas, the publisher has made good. The book is quite nice too.

I went to that same site, correctly entered all my information, and STILL I get that red bar warning: "No se ha seleccionado método de envío. Por favor, vuelve a revisar tu dirección o contacta con nosotros si necesitas ayuda." So, like you did, I also sent them an e-mail with all the information to: info@kaneediciones.com Waiting for a response and their intervention. If they just referring me to the same damn order form, it isn't going to work. I've already done that. Dave and Steve, did you have to do something special to place your order and choose a shipping method? Ron Burbella I initially had some challenges with ordering from their website but it worked the second time for me. I don’t recall any option for courier preference however

On my (couple of) attempts to order this book from accessing the site directly, I couldn't finish successfully because some inputs weren't being accepted; yet from the link they provided me directly, it worked on the first try. I don't recall being offered any choice of shipping methods or rates. However, if anyone gets somehow hung up on that page by one or more input being rejected or flagged, recheck to see whether you typed something into a highlighted field -- such as a state/province or country -- when the site might want you to select from a pulldown list.

Also, I wonder if using a different Internet browser might bring better results, since it seems to me that some browsers block (or at least don't properly display) certain elements, especially when the ordering website is rather basic, as this one seems to be.

I’ve been working my way through the book and have been spotting obvious errors here and there, in part due to the translation, which I have reported to the publisher. They seem keen to rectify for future editions down the line so if anyone wants to either email them direct or post things you find on this post then they can be passed on to them to fix. I appreciate that, both their willingness to receive such notes and your willingness to do it, and share this. I had reservations about the purchase after seeing pages (very, very few pages, to be clear) and sensing that the translation might trip me up. Sounds like a crowd-source edited vol. 2 with shipping issues also sorted out might be just the thing for me down the road!

I've also noted some errors as I explore different chapters, sometimes it's portions of sentences being repeated or factual errors, such as the premiere dates of the original Star Trek series and calling Spock, "Dr. Spock". In the passage on THE CHALLENGE, he notes there being synthesizers used in the score but I'm like 99% sure that score is entirely acoustic. I have also found that in many instances I'm having to re-read passages to understand what the author's point is. This could be part and parcel of translation, or that his line of thought simply isn't clear at times. A minor nitpick is that I've lost count of how many times he refers to Goldsmith as "the Californian genius"! I do like the organizing and arranging of JG's career by genre, especially in the section on his Westerns. At times, the book seems like a very glossy, deluxe "buyer's guide", but I do appreciate the attempts to assess the connections between scores via genre, as opposed to moving chronologically through them, as I know Jeff Bond's book will be organized.

Agreed. It's nice to have but the prose used (largely due to the translation to English) makes it a little hard to digest. It's a nice collector's item to be sure and the quality is really nice. Great photos of Goldsmith but I think Bond's books will be the definitive biography on Goldsmith.

To clarify, there is still no English language version of this book?
