I don't think this has been answered but can anyone with both the box set and these new releases speak to the differences in the liner notes? Is there much more material? More in-depth analysis?

Day One buy for me, just like Volume One!

I'm going to keep asking until someone answers: will these be available as downloads (hi res or otherwise) or is this strictly a CD release?

The inclusion of "Love Scene LM4" shows how the original box set material is being updated to include what came in the 50th Anniversary set. That's good.

Seeing that Disc 2's bonus tracks of first season library cues are only 17 minutes, I think these could have been placed with Disc 1's bonus section and the 20-minute "Shore Leave", instead of being on Disc 1, could have opened Disc 2 with an all-Gerald Fried program.

Listening to the second volume - and for this thread, I feel obligated to say I don't own the box set LOL - I found hearing Gerald Fried's unused Catspaw cues "Orbiting Ship" and "Five To Beam Up" revelatory! They sound inspired by the closing credits of The Cage; I'm sure they're not, just coincidental. They also have a Barnaby Jones Theme-esque quality about them, so to my mind, it makes me wonder what Jerry Goldsmith might've composed had he been invited to the TOS party. Then again, the producers chose not to use these particular recordings, so Goldsmith's stuff might've scrapped too. LOL

But as a non-box set owner, I'm truly loving hearing the 1701 Collection so far!

But they said other music was going to be excluded (in general). That's bad. I would have considered replacing my Box with these separate releases since they include the upgrades/omissions from the 50th anniversary set.

Only music that are still licensed with other companies. Which is a shame but I'm sure it took a huge effort to work that all out for the Box Set.

Looks like the spine drama continues. After combining the two soundtracks together to see the 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' delta take shape, it looks like the artist didn't take into account the jewel cases adding space in-between the artwork.

Looking at Warm Butter's website and the artworkwork he posted, the deltas align perfectly when put directly next to each other. However, when you put them in a spine case, the artwork doesn't sit align with other.

An understandable oversight. Hopefully, Warm Butter will take this into account on future projects.

If that was the intent then they should fix it and send out the new artwork to those who purchased the CD, and of course make sure its correct on the third set moving forward.

If “thats the only thing wrong” with it, I can live with it. These fellas do an excellent job on these Trek releases. And even though I am a proud first day owner of the TOS boxset, I got these for the art alone. Im grateful. smile

The people who put the work in and risk their money to bring out these CDs must be shaking their heads. I'd say the spine "issues" are picayune and nit-picky at best.

Well, the packaging is part of what you're paying for and contributes to the premium price.
But yeah, I was just making a comment. I'm not going to stop buying these releases over graphic design issues.
