I, too, am pretty irritated that there was no notice for this. I happened to see a retweet of the news (didn’t even see LLL’s post, and I follow them). Got my order confirmation at 12:18pm EST. Order is 293959, so I likely missed out on an autograph. Sucks, because I absolutely would have ordered PROMPTLY at noon if I’d even known it was happening. Oh well. Fingers crossed. But if I missed it, I’m still incredibly excited for this release.

We're having a blast listening to this tonight. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen the movie since the '80s, and the score is bringing me back to those elementary school glory days (slow dancing to Take My Breath Away at the 6th grade dance in the library/media center). big grin

I was lucky enough to get a signed booklet too, and I love that Faltermeyer used a gold pen for his autograph instead of the traditional black or silver; it looks super classy and goes really well with the cover design.

Heck, everything about this release is perfect. Grand slam, guys.

I had completely forgotten that LLL teased this release and just decided to check their website that day. I’m hyped to receive it next week.

I watch the movie on occasion but the score and soundtrack are just instantly recognizable for anyone who grew up during that period of time. This’ll be in rotation for a while.

I legitimately never thought this day would come. Still in shock.

Received my copy yesterday and have been listening to it.

Surprised by the number of tracks that either fade in or fade out...

Makes for a different listening experience...

This is the release of the year, that outshines even those two La-La's Bond soundtracks, and I say that as an eternal Bond die hard fanboy. Since the premiere release of the music from the first "Predator" movie years later, there hasn't been another major score never officially released that has been a bigger Holy Grail than this one. And not for me. For mankind.

Sound quality is an absolute banger.

What is the track "Dog Fight #3" on disc 2? Is it score from the movie? If so, where would it go with the score program on disc 1? Or is it unused in the movie? Demo?

It's on this one. Great instrumental.

It sounds like a great track!
But was it used as score in the movie? Or just something extra they did for that single release?

It's a pity that Mark Kermode's film music show was cancelled, I'd have liked to hear this there.

I remember some of these 45's when they were originally released!

I remember being at Sam The Record Man in 1986 and seeing a stack of copies of the 45 of Danger Zone in the picture sleeve for sale.

As I said to people at the time, Danger Zone deserved to go all the way to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it stalled at No. 2).

Who pick “New Age” as the genre for this ?

Curious how you can talk about the sound quality when you cannot possibly have a copy yet.

Mine arrived yesterday and I live in the same county as LLL's offices.

Me thinks there is something fishy going on here with how you obtained a copy.

I've had my copy since Friday, and I live in Pennsylvania--so geography doesn't seem to be a factor.

First, let me just say this is a fantastic set! The remastered OST sounds great, and it's a joy to have more than just two Faltermeyer cues finally!

That being said...

Is it just me or are some of the fades in the score abrupt? Like--really abrupt!

What source did they use? I remember the fade out on the 'Joker flies to Gotham/Batwing 1' on La-La Land's first release of Batman (89) and that had a fade out because the music was sourced from the film stems. Does the music on this release have a stem-like quality to it?

It could just be how the music was recorded, which doesn't bug me in the slightest.

Lots of folks have already received the CDs a few days ago, see the La-La's Twitter as they repost many real photos. cool

I'm not sure. The liner notes weren't very informative on the technical side this time around. The unused cues aren't even mentioned.

Hopefully there's a board member on here with more accurate information who can answer this.

It's not so much that it bugs me as it's just very jarring. For example: "Mav Goes to Fightertown" starts very quiet but after two seconds sounds like someone turned up the volume knob.

In fact, that's how I'd describe several tracks. I know many tracks fade out at the end, but something just sounds "off" about the ones on here. I wish I could be more specific but I just can't find the words for it...other than someone turning the volume knob. Like I can tell I'm listening to an album rather than a performance (if that makes any sense).
